is there a way to update the prices for UBs in the database? I know that the regular items get updated regularly via the ABer and APricer, but the UB prices remain stagnant.

One such modification is the Kacheek Life Potion. It's priced at 120k, but it's selling for 200-210k on the TP.

You need 500 post to update the item database. Or you could message someone who does to update it.

Why is this? It only makes it harder for people to contribute to codex and if a noob tries to put in stupid prices it's not like nobody would notice.

Well sure, but someone could easily sabotage our database if we just allowed anyone to change prices.

500 posts, what about the membership via paying? is it possible to update it then?

We figured if someone really hates us they would pay $2 or whatever is the cheapest to mess with out stuff.

well, what about a system where users can suggest a price (but not be able to change it), and admins or whomever, would need to review these submissions. alternatively, the prices could be crowd-sourced--if the same or similar price has been suggested repetitively (let's say 20+ times), it gets updated in the db.

the first variation definitely give you more control over ill-wishers.

Since you're on the topic of pricing, would someone mid explaining how the database gets updated? I have purchased several items that are worth several thousand below what the est profit suggests, including some items where i've lost quite a bit of money. How does the database get updated so these items aren't purchased again? I'm new so I'm using the standard settings, $5k profit margin. I'm not using the APer and doing it manually. Does that hurt the database?

The prices are updated automatically by people using Abrosia, they're an average price of items, not the very lowest price which items sell for.

Ok, I see. Thanks for explaining it!

honestly, there are very few people who are non-advanced who even want to price in the first place.

However, if you really want something to be priced, feel free to PM me or other advanced members I will gladly change it.

I can't volunteer all other members, but i gladly will

I can understand that you won't allow every new user to price items, but it still feels weird that I can't contribute in that way just because I don't post a lot.

Yes, I think that older members should also be able to contribute (like 1year in neocodex).
What about those lurkers that have about 50 posts but have been "loyal" and would like to help?

i still believe that setting up a system where all users can price UBs, but need to be verified by an admin before they propagate, would be ideal. an alternative would be to have a dedicated group of pricers on the team.

the admins are honestly way too busy to verify that; they barely have enough time to banhammerz the nubs.

Just make it your status or PM an active advanced member

fair enough. would PMing the last updater (in the case of UBs) make sense? in my case, i believe that would be noit.

Hypothetically, couldn't we sticky a board where the posts are only allowed to be prices of items?
That way, everybody could post on that board. Somebody with 500+ posts could come and verify it every so often and change it.
The -500 posters could be contributing that way.

Hypothetically, but let's just say I haven't gotten one PM about changing a price, even after this entire thread

Conclusion: don't bother.

There should be a subforum for nonadvanced members to post the price for things. That way, everyone can see it and inspect if the person is giving the appropriate price. Advanced members can update the database if they please

I think we can do what Countour ^ said. PMing an advanced member isn't the best solution.
But not obviously it wouldn't be a whole subforum.
Something like a "pricing/updating items topic" should be good enough.

SL64 made a topic a couple weeks ago with all the unpriced UBs
If you dont want to PM an advanced member, just post in there
