Well, how do you decide who started a war that was a war in name only? Nobody spilled the first blood shed... I mean... what do you use to determine it? They built the first nuclear weapon, so they started a "war" where I built a bunch, too!
Maybe I'm just being cynical, but I really don't see how it is even remotely important who started the Cold War.
No offense meant to you, OP (Original Poster). I really am not trying to be an asshole, I just don't get it.
Well there was no direct fighting between the US and Russia but they used their puppets to test out things, similar to Germany and Russia prior to WW2. Russia was obviously trying to make countries communist, like China for example which led to this example being used in Veitnam. It was basically US vs. communism, which is why the US fought so hard in the war, even though it was pointless and for nought. Other examples include the Berlin blockade and the Korean war, don't forget if the Cuban Missle Crisis pulled through the world we live in now would be much different.
As to who I would say started the war... I have no opinion, both countries are equally to blame for this. The rest of the world will say the US though
