^ I don't even know what that means.
Am I doin it wrong?

1000 KB = 0.9765625 MB
You are over the limit. You should be using image hosting sites like photobucket and tinypic and link to them to show your pictures.

I personally use img.ur. It's quick and pretty lightweight.
