I'd rather do release date like the rest of us had.

Though, you could do it in order instead, so he doesn't get a good dose just to be stuck with disappointment later.

(Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the series all the way through, but I enjoyed the latter episodes much more.)

Release date. You might not get to them to watch the originals if you start them off with the prequels.

Show them the originals, and don't bother with the others. Ever.

Why not just do it in chronological order?
(It makes things make sense)

Maybe it's me, but I like watching things in chronological order.

EDIT:
I take that back! I say you should show them star wars in random order. 6 films - what else has 6 associated with it?
THE NUMBER OF FACES ON A DIE.

(just kidding)

Things make sense without watching the prequels. After all, people enjoyed the originals just fine before those things were released.

^This. Episodes I and II was murder. E3 maybe, but still not worth showing to a "star wars noob"

Although I see good points from everyone, I lean towards chron. If you show them all to the person, it needs to be in order. I saw them in release order, and I got lost in the prequels.

  • A random order to just throw them completely off balance.
(^) this made me giggle

i was introduced to Star Wars last summer and i watched them how they were released
& after watching them in "order" i really like it best when watched in the order that they were released

{edit} for clarification

deffo release date!!

The first 3 vs the second 3 are so different and with the later ones being more modern and watchable (even if not as epic as the first lot) they might not enjoy the first ones in all their glory if spoilt by cgi with the new ones :D

Agreed. The first movie = great movie. Rest of the movies = ehhhhh

As others have side, release date, just as all other star wars watchers saw them.

Also, you can't show them a lot of good movies then end up with shitty ones.

Release order! Like what others had said, 1,2 and 3 are terrible. And a painful way to introduce someone to star wars.

I don't about everyone else but I can't stand the cheap effects of the old trilogy. I personally like the newer three alot.

I usually agree, but Star Wars is the exception. :p

The only movies I can watch past 1990.

This. I seriously question the taste of anyone who actually enjoyed the three prequels without feeling utter shame, second-hand embarrassment, or constant boredom.

By release date. No one wants to watch something in glorious 21st century 1080p and downgrade back to 80's style graphics.

Don't show it to them at all if they're 20-. I've never watched Star Wars, but after what I've been exposed to, 80s films are kind of.. Blah.

/facepalm to this, all the amazing films you are missing, guess you don't appreciate cinematography at it's finest, kids these days, all just watch the CG filled excuse for movies.

On topic...
Show you friend 4,5,6, don't worry about the others, if you friend wants to watch them, well, I guess no one can stop him/her.

If it were an option, I'd say just 4 5 and 6 alone, leave out 1 2 and 3. But release date was my choice, you get the same feeling as watching them as you grow up.
