hmm ok. so is there a way to sell items faster? ive been ABing quite a few things and havent been able to move most it. some things i know won't be sold quickly but others should, like scratchcards n codestones

You can also try shouting it out at the Neoboards Shop Ad sections. Bump it every now and then and you'll get extra traffic. Time consuming though.

Here is how the wiz is sorted:

1. Every shop is busted into one of 13 categories (based on the first character of the username)
2. When a search is processed, the wiz will (presumably) pick one of the categories at random.
3. The results of the category are sorted by price, then by alphabetical order

In the case of two shop with the same first letter and the same price, the first alphabetical shop will be displayed first.

This is correct and it's even posted in the dailies guide section. It has nothing to do with store size, just your username.
That said, it's good to pick a username that places you in a non-competitive group. I don't know what group "J" is in, but
I feel sorry for those peeps. Such a big group and majority of them undersell themselves, good for me as a buyer of course.

I also don't like big shops, I'm not going to click next page. I'm lazy. Crazy sellers and their complicated designs... I'm blinded by their shop because of all the colors I just leave.
I'm here for the items to buy, not to see someone brag about their neat logos and shit. I'm saying all these things because I'm sure some of you guys do that and I'm letting you know as a buyer

I agree with Homer. I really HATE designs very colourful with load of things that makes your charge the page for very long. When I see that I just leave the shop and search for an other, even if the items will cost me a little more np I don't care. I like things being simple AND fast. I can't wait until the full page load 'cause there is too much things on it, I don't have that patience. You want me to buy ? Make your shop simple !

I'm in total agreement here. I hate all the images and colors, and the delay it causes when loading. I usually click x and find another shop - too limpatient, I guess.

the size of your shop matters if you're hoping to attract people through the entrance in the actual neopian worlds
other than that, i find it annoying to have a large shop, and try to turn over my stock quickly

Yeah, it's pretty stupid that people waste their time on that stuff when they only attract 8 year old kids wich won't have a lot of neopets buying potential (Np).

I don't really understand those big shops. Well it's full of things at higher prices than shop wiz. Who buys from them ? (and I wonder how much time it needs to price like a thousand items...). I really think that even 8 years old don't buy from them. They buy from each other and doesn't know the value of the market.

On the contrary, they hold much more buying potential than the rest of us that use the SW. Since they are walking into shops with no clear item intention, they are much more likely to blindly buy. And since mall size shops have a general markup of 1-3k, that's a great margin.

Also the big shop thing is a good idea for selling all those items one would ab with the supersystem.

That depends entirely on your business plan. When I malled, I ran a toy shop and rs/ab'd in toy. Restocks I priced competitively on the shop wizard, and everything else (dark faerie quests, daily deals) were priced with a mall markup. My sales were consistent and good enough through my mall items with a lot of help from the restocked items. I'd find that people searching for pinatas would buy a few other avatar items like a marked-up blue evil fuzzle and even some of the junk. The rest came from the other shops in my mall and through my personal and mall noticeboard ads, the shop chat, and my mall directory petpage.

Yeah, but a big shop is needed only because of the amount of items you would have in stock, not because of the size of it changed other thing than it's capacity.

Again, you can't overlook the marketplace. When faerie quests arefunctional and training is popular, a good deal of traffic comes from there. I remember when dmitiri explained the business plan behind the marketplace to the BD Chat one day:

When someone vists the marketplace for whatever reason, there is a near identical chance of them clicking on any one specific hut. People don't jockey just for higher shop sizes, they also jockey for better positioning in a hut. Each person wants the top spot no matter what hut they're in. They will pay ridiculous amounts just to get the top spot in the first spot possible.

That being said, I'd say a market-size shop makes a big difference in malling and profits. It adds another dimension to your traffic.
