I snapped one of my shift keys off, and then in half, by some form of Stupid Magic some time ago. As my computer's a laptop, and Dell is run by bastards, naturally the only fix for this through them is to purchase an entire new keyboard setup and install it myself, while praying to everything that listens that I don't break anything else.

Naturally, one says "fuck that noise" and heads to google, and finds the best little money-saver site ever:

http://www.replacementlaptopkeys.com/

This is a website which sells laptop keyboard keys individually, for a surprisingly wide variety of makes and models. Granted, three bucks for a key is still expensive, but if you don't need half your keyboard replaced, you're still winning.

Enjoy!

1)Dell is not run by bastards
2)Dell only has brand new keyboards
3)Your buying just a piece of the keyboard. that site just buys the keyboard, and sells each key for a profit.

1) True enough. They annoyed me greatly every time I tried to get anything done, however, and constantly failed to note that my warranty was not in fact expired, so I'm a little touchy.
2) So?
3) I'm fully aware that the site sells each piece at a profit. It's the same thing as selling pizza by the slice. However, if I don't need the entire keyboard, I don't want the entire keyboard, and am not paying a hundred bucks at minimum when I could pay four.

Oddly enough, I broke my shift key. And another one as well. Damn fragile hinges. I was lucky enough to find perfecttttttt replacements on eBay. I seriously think those people scrounge around for dead laptops and strip them of their keys. The ones I got were actually from some old Dell Latitude. I <3 Dell, I have their XPS now. I'm very much in love, and hopefully I'll never break any of THESE keys. I think I'd cry.

Haha my sister could make good use of this

Her hobbies include removing keyboard keys to swab under them with alcohol and ends up losing a fair amount in the process

Taking my keys off and seeing what's underneath is quite frightening and disgusting...

But it takes me about two days to break my "never eating at the computer again" resolution
