So, after being told by numerous people that I need to, NEED TO, form a network, I joined Facebook. And I added people. Shortly after, Facebook informed me that I'd been acting annoyingly and inappropriately by adding people they suggested as friends, and thus were going to ban me from adding people for a few days. Well, ok, that was weird. So I waited, and the ban lifted. And I added another person. Once again, Facebook immediately descended, and banned me for another 2 days.. After 2 days, I added one more person. Got banned for 4 days. I didn't try adding anyone til a few days after the ban lifted. And at once, I got logged out once more, and was banned for 7 days this time, for acting "annoyingly".

The only one acting annoyingly is Facebook. What the Hell is the point of it if they ban you every time you try to add people you know, and are the same people Facebook itself suggests??? Of course, trying to find any sort of customer support is damn near impossible. I eventually found a support form and sent it in. No word from them as yet.

Am I the only one, or has this happened to anyone else? If this happens again, I am so done with Facebook.

This adding ban was implemented a few weeks ago i think, it prevents you from being a troll and add people who you don't know. It seems that the filters are still pretty primitive, so i guess you'll have to be patient till they realize they're doing something wrong.

How'll they know if they're doing something wrong? It's close to impossible trying to contact them. Since it's new, I'll give them a few weeks to sort it out. Thanks for the tip about it being a new feature :)

the same thing happened to my friend when he finally decided to join, though he only got warnings when he kept adding friends from the 'suggested friends' list.
The ones of whom he added via email were fine

I think this only happens when you try to add someone, they deny you and then they click "I don't know this person." Clicking that option makes it so that you can't keep trying to add them and I guess maybe it reports it to FB as spam if you get too many of those?

I doubt it, because I get banned immediately after trying to add someone. They don't even have time to respond with a "I don't know this person."

Wow FB. I never thought FB was a big deal weird how people get addicted. 90% of people you add on there are people you can just talk to at school/Work only about 10% are really people you LOST touch with.

Facebook is terrible. It gives every self-important retard a platform from which to broadcast their every thought and action - thus artificially reinforcing their self-important retard-ism.

Seriously, 99.9% of people don't give a shit what you ate for lunch today or what colour your new Justin Bieber Tshirt is.

your new Justin Bieber Tshirt

I'd buy one just to burn it while performing a Satanic ritual.

People get banned from adding on Facebook? This is definitely a new thing. Is it user reported or automatic if you're giving out a lot of requests but no acceptances?

I've only become known of it late last year. haha my friend finally succumbed to peer pressure, made one, and then got pissed off that he got banned from adding heaps of friends.

For older accounts you only get banned if you mass add people, and I mean like 100+ in a day

Yeah, this is exactly what happened to me. My account was created a few years ago, and was deactivated most of that time til now. What's with the ban though?

Do I have to wait like a year or so before I can add more people? O_o

Maybe you need to wait until some of the people you added accept your request before you add more people. This sucks, though, since you have no control over whether or not they accept... although, I guess you could just cancel your friend request if needed.

Email facebook staff directly, the bots are probs just blocking you and need a tweek. Facebook robots work sort of the same as google bots, detecting suspicious activity and if they feel you're a fake they will constantly be looking up on your account ect. Just make a complaint and it should stop. Sorry if this has been said before, to lazy to read :p
oh and get people to add you, don't add people!

So...adding your friends is behaving "annoyingly", but begging people to water your chickens and join your undead army of whatever is okay. Good to know, Facebook.

Exactly, why would i care what my friends are doing each and every minute? And we have numbers, its not like not having Facebook makes us completely inaccessible.

As useless as it is though, I can't hate on fb 100%. It's made cracking email security questions exponentially easier.
