Exactly, why would i care what my friends are doing each and every minute? And we have numbers, its not like not having Facebook makes us completely inaccessible.

As useless as it is though, I can't hate on fb 100%. It's made cracking email security questions exponentially easier.

with you there
its so easy to access other peoples info
plus half the people on FB accept anyone as a friend :p

People who think that facebook is about letting people know what they do every minute are so wrong

My facebook only have people I know and people who I generally care about knowing. They update their status once a day max and plan events through it.

The people who you hear about that update their status to "is at school" "is taking a dump" are stupid and have no place on my facebook.

facebook is excellent and full of win. You can share interesting shit, too. Like videos, pictures, and articles. My facebook feed generally has less spam than the average Neocodex thread.
They've gotten pretty good at filtering out mafiaville invites and crap you don't play.

But yeah, shame on the fb staff for unleashing bots they haven't thoroughly tested.

I've never heard of anything like that!

Haha, although, I don't much like facebook anyways.

Yeah, this is exactly what happened to me. My account was created a few years ago, and was deactivated most of that time til now. What's with the ban though?

Do I have to wait like a year or so before I can add more people? O_o

Its more like..a week ban from being able to add more people,

Supposedly :p But if they keep on banning me as soon as I add someone, the ban is a lot longer than that. So far, it's been about 2 weeks altogether.

Ahah I totally agree. Humans are just complete suckers for social networking. I use MSN, BBM, SMS and e-mail for most of my communication. I'm not a huge fan of sharing details of my life O__o

ITT: People without social skills.

Seriously, you make Facebook what you want it to be. You can ignore requests from people that are annoying and those who aren't actually your friends.
I use it mainly as an easier way to get in touch with people who I can't easily call or text (email is outdated...). It's really convenient if you've moved and with talking with your friends in colleges across the nation.

So.... everyone who doesn't like logging onto Facebook has no friends or social skills?

Just because I'm not narcissistic enough to believe that I have 374 FRIENDS that care that I went shopping today doesn't mean that I am devoid of friends or social skills. It means that I know that most people aren't concerned in the slightest with the mundane details of my existence and I know how to contact my good friends without leaving them an impersonal 30 word message that hundreds of other people can read.

Facebook CAN be useful to keep loosely connected to people you don't see often, but you can't deny that social networking turns many people into self-important asshats who broadcast idiocy 99% of the time.

In my opinion, a lot of the people you know really suck IRL if they don't talk anything else but the lame shit you guys are complaining about.

On my news feed: article about a civilian who pointed a laser pointer at pilot (guess what happened)
My Co-worker asking advice about her first birth (gave birth 3 months ago)
Cousin's wedding photos
Someone stating the anniversary of a deceased loved one

And one teenage fat girl who complains 24/7. She's an outlier but I can't delete her because I work with her >_<

I hate it when people write status about how their life sucks, everything's going downhill etc. but when ppl ask about it they go "oh, it's nothing. don't worry about it". Like wtf? Are you just writing these status because you're an attention whore? -_-

In one word: Yep.

There's a girl I know who uploads about 10 pics of herself a day, in black and white, sepia, goodness knows what else. She's obviously put some work into them. Then she cries about how ugly she is in the pics, and waits for comments from her other dumb, supportive friends telling her, no no, she's really quite a beauty.

Clearly the issue here is that you and I have differing opinions on the human race in general. Yes; most of the people I know in real life "really suck" or are vacuous retards. But it is socially unacceptable for me to ignore friend requests from cousins, co-workers, friends of friends, etc.

Seriously though - was there anything in that list from your feed that made a huge impact on your day? Even if the things on your feed aren't completely ridiculous, they're usually mostly irrelevant.

Irrelevant to you maybe. I genuinely care about what happens with my friends. i'm not that self-centered that I think "but how does this affect meeeeeeee" in every thing that happens in my day

You genuinely care that someone posted a video with a lazer pointer in it?

Everyone is self-centered. Everyone considers how something relates to them. That's how the human mind filters out the ridiculous amount of information that it's bombarded with on a daily basis.
Just because you can empathize with someone who lost a loved one and is mourning today, or with the old lady who dropped her bag of oranges on the street or the teenage kid who fell off of his bike doesn't mean that you genuinely care about it. There's a difference between basic human empathy and having a legitimate and lasting interest.

That point was more along the lines of "interesting events" on my faceboo over "zomg i look SOOOO bad in this photo *fishing for comments*" which are apparently flooding others'.

I didn't say that I'm going to write a poem for every status or something, I'm just saying that I care about these people in general, so yes, I care about the things that they say regardless of how mundane or irrelevant the things they sometimes are.

And who says I care about people I don't know? Old lady dropping oranges = lol

You should write a poem for every status update.

I suggest Haikus.

Facebook is all that is wrong with the world. The viral advertising, the constant stream of shit nobody but the one who wrote it cares about, the viral advertising, offending other peoples grandmothers by trolling on their wall... Well, maybe that last one is semi-decent... But the constant bombardment of advertisements drove me off facebook, much like its done with youtube. I stopped watching TV to avoid it, and now it infests the internet.

Oh well, at least the income from goods and services that don't actually exist will unbalance the economy and (hopefully) bring us into the apocalypse that much faster.

So, after being told by numerous people that I need to, NEED TO, form a network, I joined Facebook. And I added people. Shortly after, Facebook informed me that I'd been acting annoyingly and inappropriately by adding people they suggested as friends, and thus were going to ban me from adding people for a few days. Well, ok, that was weird. So I waited, and the ban lifted. And I added another person. Once again, Facebook immediately descended, and banned me for another 2 days.. After 2 days, I added one more person. Got banned for 4 days. I didn't try adding anyone til a few days after the ban lifted. And at once, I got logged out once more, and was banned for 7 days this time, for acting "annoyingly".

I've yet to see this, so this is news to me. :whistling:
