Hey!

My name is Catherine, and I'm not really new to this forum, but I haven't really done anything on here so far either :p I currently live in Quebec but plan on Moving to Mississauga soon! Can't wait! I absolutely LOVE neopets! I've been a user for the past 9 and a half years :) Nearly 2 years ago I made a new account and made it my main because I couldn't get access to my old one (which I hadn't used in a while). So now, I'm trying to get back up to the point where I used to be. Stamp collection, reading books to my pets, food club and avatar collection! I'm sure to have a bunch of questions to ask with time because I'm so curious :p For example, I noticed that in certain forums I can't start a new topic... anyone know why?

it means we could talk about pretty much anything and nobody would understand because the majority of people here don't talk french. It's a joke :)

yeah google would make you understand anything in bigger strokes... Depends what kind of vocabulary I'd use (let's just say it doesn't translate slang or very high end vocabulary well at all)

Definitely. We've already had a poor Spanish child using it to translate what he was saying.. And we ended up reading hilariously nonsensical stuff from him :p

I've heard "bordel" used to mean a whorehouse or a complicated situation. That would throw google translate off a bit.

the funniest thing I ever got was when I tried to translate "fuck off"... they gave me "merde au loin" (that means shit in the distance) and then I retranslated to english to see if it would still give "fuck off" but it gave me "shit with far"! HAHAHAHA

Google translate plus knowing a bit of Spanish gives me the gist of a lot of European languages, as long as they are geographically close to Spain.
I don't think I'd able to make heads or tails of any Eastern European language.

Anyway, happy late welcome to the site.

My freshman year of high school, a student got confused about how to say Tuesday and said "merde" instead.

I'm the only one who giggled other than the teacher until she explained. Apparently no one else bothered to learn French swear words over the summer.

Welcome to Codex xD. French is going to be my 4th language lol (I'd rather learn french before spanish, but since I know a little bit of spanish, it'll be easier to learn it than french.).
I lol'ed at the "merde" one, Tara =P
