My problem with this is that in a way it's a double edged sword, yes you're preventing leaking but at the same time you might be stopping a non-advanced member from posting the correct answer or seeing a more serious debate on the answer than what would be found in the general forum. With this being said I was actively participating on LC#400 and trying pretty much everything else people were. I was absolutely no help but considering how I am becoming more active with neopets I intend on helping to find more LC answers in the future. As for Mystery Picture, I have no idea how the hell one would go about legitimately trying to find the correct answer, but I can appreciate the effort of coding a program that magnitude. But as I also figure, if a basic does come up with the answer an easy way to share it would be to PM the answer and reasoning to Waser to allow him to post and double check. But as for me personally I think I'm screwed since I rarely ever post. Just my 2 cents here.

It's not that hard to get caught up in a discussion, you'd be amazed how fast your post count can go up without even trying.. Hell, don't even think about the post count. It's not really fair to just take stuff from Codex, and then gtfo. I totally support making the answers unavailable to people like that. Stick around, post something, get to know people. Codex is a nice place with pretty interesting and mostly nice people.

You're only screwed because you don't post. Go to the general forum or try and contribute on a board. It really isn't that hard. If you don't put in any effort then of course you're going to be screwed, lol.

The only problem I see with this new thing is that experience showed many times : a non advanced member was the one to find the answer (when everyone wasn't finding it). And now, it might be the case for future LC and there might be problems solving it.
I don't really care since I got my avatar long time ago but still, it's a little bit unfair in my opinion for all the non advanced members who past participated in discussions and weren't leaking the answers to other websites.

It also sucks that non-advanced members' version of Abrosia doesn't let them do a lot of things. Life is so unfair!! *stomps around*

That wasn't my statement
I was only saying that it happened sometimes when a non advanced member was the only one who found the LC answer and shared it. So maybe, it can be harmful to finding the answers that now the access is revoked. I wasn't whining about it and saying that non advanced should have access to everything

You people go on about your members communicating in your precious forums but then you just go and switch the rules on some power tripping trippity trip. Neopets staff are bad enough with their control freakisms! We don't need the fans going wacko too!

This is a forum, forums don't survive if people don't post, therefore posts are important.

Also, I suggest you wait until we've decided on the restrictions before complaining about them, it just makes you look like a retard otherwise.

Posting in forums is joining the community and is at least a barrier similar to paying money to get advance membership.
who in the right mind would create an account , post 500 posts. get the answer, leak it out, and get banned. or pay 5 dollars and get banned after leaking an answer.

As for restrictions, i remember seeing a forum a long time ago that wouldn't allow members to view the answers until they were at least a month old XD.
Maybe we could do a combination of say.. 50 posts (easily obtainable) and a month old account? It could be its own little group, but both must be met in order to view the topic. By that time, surely the person will be less likely to leak and get their account banned from neocodex.

You could also sell passes to the topic.. like $1 a month to non-advanced members. Again this would have its own little group. The group "member" could be changed to "new member" then we could have "member" then "established member" THEN "advanced member". "Member" could require 50 posts and 1 month account, then "established member" could require 100 posts and 2 month account.
With this one, $1 a month would make you a member until you meet both requirements. It's less demanding than having to become advanced, but will still help with the leaker problem.

Yes, but please don't learn from a certain old member who recently got banned. He irritated a lot of people here because he was spamming nonsense.

Please wait until the official announcement is given. But there are other reasons to post than just to see mystery pic and extra features for Abrosia. Oh the sense of community in people these days.

Back then, people weren't terrified of having their kids stolen from their front yards, or dragged into a neighbour's house and......

Agree on the community spirit. When I was much younger, play grounds around my houses would be packed with kids, and basketball courts would be filled with challengers. Now, all my neighbourhood playground has been turn to fitness corner for the elderly. Not saying it's a bad thing, but it shows that there isn't much bonding between neighbours these days.

Anyway, back on topic. I received a neomail from the TNT today. I was biting my nails. I thought what had happened, but turns out I won the Mystery Pic. Got a few thousand NPs, but no Trophy. It is my first time winning the Mystery Pic though.

But yeah, can't wait till my exams are over. Will surely be purchasing the 1 month subscription for a start to see how ABrosia works out in Advanced Member.

While I may not qualify to see the Conundrum/Pics section anymore, which originally took me by surprise, I can totally understand the reasoning behind this and even support it.
It may not be the best course of action overall, but for now it works.
If there isn't a thread already, perhaps we can still have an area where us non-Advanced Members can still work together to come up with the answer and the Codex Sages could at least verify if we're either right, on the right track, close.
In that case, it could also offer an opportunity to earn access to that section through contribution, effort, & hard work rather than just "Advanced Only".

99% of the people who usually use the Mystery Picture/Lenny Conundrum section will be able to access it with the restrictions, there's no need to continue on about it ad nauseam until those restrictions are in place.

well according to the post of hte last one waver was thinking of changing it to advanced only because people kept leaking out hte answers to other sites so thish might be the case, although that would be sad to see i can see the reasoning behind it

I agree. It's too bad I can't upgrade. I will still stay a member of the site though maybe someday when I can upgarde I will. But good idea
