I've heard many things since the (to me) disastrous outcome of the recent elections in Canada.

A) If all the younger adults (25 and under) who didn't vote had voted for the same party, that party would have gotten majority
B) Harper is Canada's Bush, yet we still voted for him...
C) It seems our country is united since we have a majority gov. now, but the fact is that we are not.
D) There is only one positive thing coming out of all this: at least we won't have to vote for another 4 years ( really? We're going to be STUCK with this idiot as a leader for the next 4 years)

more to come

1) They rarely do though, so we can't really make that point. I and a lot of my friends voted, but many people are just apathetic.
2) Harper is not quite as bad as Bush, though I don't like that Harper doesn't work with other parties (and that he is strangely secretive about certain things and not transparent like he should be).
3) It's not really united, since there's a huge disparity between what Quebec voted, and what the rest of the country voted.
4) Yep.

I'm just waiting for the metered internet, then I'm packing my bags.

Don't forget the copyright bill! (that died off twice now because of minority government conditions, but no longer can die off)

Guess I'll be getting outside more, seeing as nothing fun will be allowed anymore.

Frak, I was actually counting on Canada to be my refuge from this damned country. Guess I'll have to take my chances across the pond after all. :(

Hours later. I download them the second they go online; much earlier.
Yet another reason to be in the UK. lol

And what about the most serious issue of them all up there?
What about the weed? Screw the children, for the love of god tell me the weed is still okay at least.

Oh good, in that case there may be hope for y'all yet.
Might just have to delay my travels a few more years until this Bush Clone thing blows over.

But in all seriousness, hope it doesn't end up going to crap nearly as badly as it has here.
Lot of respect for your country and truly was/am looking forward to spending as much of my youth as possible in the great north.
Have some good friends up there also, and would hate for this new administration to screw them, you, and any other Codex family members over.
Best of luck. :)

well elections are often pretty much same time of year for many countries, especially G20.

Still I really hope things work out for us. Harper can basically do anything he wants with his newly found majority. I was wondering though; does he have anyone to answer to? As in, if he decides he wants to spend billions for I dunno, something completely ridiculous instead of what he promised, is there anything stopping him?

The entire populace of Canada, depending on how many of us want to murder him.

Then comes the Anarchy.

Not old enough to vote and really have no clue what's going on in politics (other than the liberals got pwned of course)

But still.

I'm just waiting for the metered internet, then I'm packing my bags.

What metered internet?!?

It's been mentioned before in some other topic and I still don't get it. Don't we already have metered internet? Like for me, Rogers caps my home internet at 60GB a month o.0 *is confused*

Every (Or just the smaller ones) company will be forced for metered internet and Usage Based Billing (If I recall correctly), meaning the unlimited internet services that some companies have will cease and people will be forced to pay depending on their bandwidth usage.

For me, I have an unlimited internet service, meaning I can download all the anime, games, porn, cat videos I want and use Netflix without any worry while always get the same decent bill every month, but if it kicks in, I'd have to pay based on my usage, and that would mean I'd probably have to pay more for my internet than I do for rent and food combined.

(Did this on the fly and based on memory, if I'm wrong, then gee whiz, just look up Usage Based Billing and read about yourself.)

Most people under 25 don't understand most politics, plus they just don't give a hoot. Harper is indeed Canada's version of bush, but honestly, would you want Ignatieff or Layton as our leader?
