Actually, there are 1 or 2 types that already do manipulate the ability of humans to think. Will try to remember what they were and post it up here. One was a protozoan disease of some kind. I think the other was bacterial. Will check and get back to you, but i'm guessing in the future, there may come an evolved strain that may mind control us.
the one you are probably thinking about is the cat thing
Here’s a little-known and slightly terrifying fact: According to estimates from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, more than 60 million people in the United States are infected with a parasite that may migrate into their brains and alter their behavior in a way that — among other things — may leave them more likely to be eaten by cats. New research into this common parasite — Toxoplasma gondii — may offer clues to the phenomenon known to the unscientifically-minded as “crazy cat lady” syndrome.

Actually I think that living on a hot area would be a good thing for me.

Zombies would dry and mummify
But that also means that a zombie apocalipse would come with magical or rabbid-like zombies x3
(Fast zombies, wich are the kind of zombies we wouldn't have any chance)
I have to stop reading this zombie stuff...

I agree, magically imbued zombies that run really fast would spell the end of the human race as we know it. How would we counter those?

I think that only the most severe temperatures would affect zombies, and i mean like Death Valley kind of heat, which wouldn't be very conducive to our survival anyway.

Everyone run like Usain Bolt!

You mean Jamaican sprinter and three-time World and Olympic Gold Medalist? Since he's a sprinter, i'm thinking he'll probably only make it around 400m before they catch up to him. We're screwed!
Yeah but he runs so fast he would lose the zombies after 100m.

zombies don't have to sleep though, they will catch up eventually. especially if you are talking about fast zombies.

@ Surrico : Have you seen Resident Evil 4? Few people trapped in a prison trying to stay away from thousands of zombies? If you managed to climb the stairs and somehow 'destroy' an entire staircase with your bare hands, how would you get off considering your supplies are limited? Suicidal jump?
A one-story jump down isn't really that far, unless you meant suicidal because they're jumping down into a hoard of zombies.

I would then find a place high up in the closest mountains, preferably a cave I can build onto, and closer to a water source.
Next would be more food, so I would def. plant some stuff, like potatoes, corn, stuff that can grow rather quickly, maybe some rice if I could manage it.
After that it would just be getting into a routine of doing stuff daily.
Set aside time for hunting/foraging, time for gardening, relaxing, scouting the terrain etc.

If they're just fast zombies then go for bomb shelters. Or take refuge in a high area and destroy the way up if you have the means of surviving for a while. Like the Zombie Survival Guide says, get up the stairs then destroy them.
Honestly I don't think I've seen Resident Evil 4, but in most homes stairs would be easy to destroy with an axe or crowbar.

Seriously?? Thats kinda... unsafe dont you think, that staircases can be so easily taken apart... Well, i guess if it stops the zombies. Now all we need to worry about are those wall crawling lickers and tunneling zombies... Hrmmm...
