and if you used max or maya, which renderer?

hah, well thats actually like my only piece with Cinema 4D that I used, but you can use 3ds easily for it I'm sure just make sure you have a reflective material with an HDRI image applied to it.
Something like this so it'd be using mental ray.

Would you be able to make me a "Coming Soon" banner for a website, 610 x 333, sort of a star, out of galaxy, space orientation, bright neon colours, but dark sort of thing.

It would need to say...

"Starbleachd - Coming Soon"
