I learnt quite a bit of coding from Neopets that led to me making my own websites and blogs that weren't neo related. I stopped playing for quite a few years and spent very little time online but I found that when I returned to Neo having a dabble with my user lookup coding really helped bring back knowledge I had forgotten previously.

I used it now and then as a break from reality which I think I'll always need no matter how old I get ;)

I wanted to play some sort of tamagotchi game, and then... I found neopets, I really liked that I could take care for my pets and even train them. And there were other flash games that I like. (I recall endlessly playing Hannah and the Pirate Caves). Nice childhood web tamagotchi =)))

Like a few others here Neopets got me through some boring summers and introduced me to html. I'm now a professional web developer almost 12 years later!

I wish I still had my first Neopets account =(

It's caused me to become the ultimate of losers, hanging out on a cheating website for a children's game just to get an edge against the economy and how rigged half the activities are.

I would agree with this statement as well. However, it's also introduced me to a lot of good friends that, though I have never met, I still keep contact with. Also, it gave me something to do to escape the boredom that I faced in Jr High

How it affected me: I type "flavour" and "colour"

This is interesting. I actually thought there were more Americans on Neo than Brit/Canadian spellers. I mean, I see people saying stuff like THAT'S NOT A RW, IT'S SPELT IN THE BRITISH WAY on the PC all the time.

Basically neopets has ruined my exams/revision :p

Oh yes. I'm with you there xD

Otherwise, getting introduced to Neopets all those years ago by my cousin was a pivotal thing; it was seeing the NT artists way back then that inspired me to start drawing (stoneman3x, anyone? I used to be a rabid fan). Potentially life-changing.
Deep stuff

Neopets has taught me basic HTML which I wouldnt have ever learned before and now learn more on my own. It's also taught me that there are a lot of freaks out there just like me and I'm not alone. I met a lot of really cool people and made lifelong friends.

Downside I used to spend so much time on neopets that it's made me more of a recluse than I already am, so I dont get out more and makes RL social interractions more awkward.

Like a lot of you, I got into coding and drawing. Not that I'm any good, but I like to do those things! I started playing when I was ~10, and now I just came back at 21. These days it is giving me something to do before I start grad school... hah. Sometimes I would play while at my university's computer lab and a couple times random students came up to me and said they played too! It was great.

Also, I started spelling things the British way in middle school because of Neo. Aren't the creators (Adam and... Donna?) British? I had no idea the American spelling was "fairy" not "faerie" until I was about 15. :)

it definitely affected my life in a positive way. before i found codex (which helped me improve my english a looot and made me find some amazing new friends all around the world) i got to know kalo on neopets, who is one of my best friends for ages now! i stoped being very active on neopets a long time ago but i never really stoped at least making dailies and customising my pets ever now and then. i am not planing to ever stop with that either, it just has become a colorful little part of my life. d'aw!

Neopets deludes me into thinking that I'm making progress in life. Only in a hyper-inflated virtual world have I so far been able to earn a decent salary where I can afford to take care of a family of four.

Lame as it sounds, one of the best things about getting into neopets again was finding codex <3 Yeah there's the occasional jerk-off and troll but overall it's a really great community :D

I started playing neopets when I was 14 and it brought me into the world of web design and graphics which my school never did and it drove me to self teach these subjects. Every one I know thinks I am weird for going on Neopets but it has taught me so much.... (Then took it away with coding restrictions, but w/e XD)

I still have memories of running to the library after school with one of my brothers to play on neopets because we didn't have internet at home (the horror!)
