BTW, loving the front page so far. Its great to have it displayed to anyone new to the site. Very straight forward and not too cluttered. Enough pictures to keep the user interested to maybe read the information (as opposed to no pics and scrolling straight to the bottom/hitting the get started! button straight away).

A video presentation would be awesome, I would love to help if possible (I could do a voiceover or something if anyone was able to do the video )

Maybe instead of the 10 most expensive items, the 10 example items should be random (if it's not too difficult)? The text above them talks about how often the prices are updated, but the prices for the items currently shown are very rarely updated.

(but I suspect they might be there for SEO purposes?)

This was my first thought, I am glad someone already said it. I just wanted to second this. It's kind of inconsistent that we say most of the prices are updated daily, then link to a handful of items that were last updated 1-2 years ago for the most part.

Simulators: Simulate how your pet would look wearing certain clothes, or simulate a fight with your pet in the battle dome.

Mystery Picture/Lenny Connundurum Answers: Community members get access to the answers to the mystery picture and lenny connundurum as soon as it is released.

"Conundrum" is spelled wrong (twice).

The ideas people have offered are great. The typos should be fixed and I like the random ten items shown.

As for the live items, that would be great. But right now the page is a static html page. I'll see what I can do about getting some live items on there with a random php script that spits out some html for the items .

Imagine if you were to visit Neocodex for the first time and saw a list of forums. It would be very difficult to figure out what Neocodex was.

This is so true! It took me a long time to figure out where to find certain forums, learn the who's who of the Who's and I really was not sure if this was this was really about neopets. The new layout looks faboo!

Some new things you could add:

1. This is sort of not just for the homepage but what about an email newsletter? You could have a signup box on the homepage and when new major updates or deals are released people could get an email. Maybe we have this though, I don't really remember

2. Instead of the two images of Abrosia and the Shapeshifter solver why don't we have maybe a slideshow of screenshots? It could show some pictures of the forum, the programs, item database etc. Take a look at that top slideshow on www.thedailyneopets.com. Do something like that maybe? Or even the news thing they have on the homepage of Neopets that displays new content like games and what not.

This is actually all I can think of now. I'll try and come up with some more cool things to add

This actually wouldn't be terrible. Perhaps users who aren't logged in get sent there. Frustrating having to navigate to www.neocodex.us/forum/index.php.

Aah, what browser do you use? Since I know Chrome and Opera have URL auto-completer..things? Like, if you go to type neoco then it'll complete it so it shows neocodex.us/forum/ :3 And I'm pretty sure there's a Firefox addon which does that~

I use Chrome and rely on the auto-complete like crazy. Problem is that I entered neocodex.us the first time so that's the auto-completed entry.

If you enter the other one enough times it should override that I think.

I don't know what you mean by override, but if you visit a particular page more than all the other pages in your history that start with the same letter, it'll be the first suggestion. I think we're saying the same thing in different languages though.

Yeah, that was happening at first for me in Chrome, but after adding /forum/ to the end of the url a couple of times, it started putting that in instead of just neocodex.us/~

Why not put the ajax login on the frontpage as well? I log in from more than one system, and it'd be great if I could save a click there. After I log in, I normally don't close Codex, so navigating to it and hitting the frontpage when I'm already signed in isn't an issue.
