Did you smudge and recolor and dodge/burn and gradient map a pre-existing stock photo or made this from scratch?

Scratch. started with rows of smudge'd colors and worked from there.

Im a bit lost on this. By smudged artwork do you mean you just smudged strokes or what and added some gradient filters/brightness/contrast to the final image? Im not saying its bad, it looks cool, but when ever I hear smudge are I always thought people took a pre existing photo, smudged it up, then edited the outcome.
