So my AB has been doing pretty bad ever since I got it and only been buying about one 100k item a day.  I read around and saw that it might have just been that I have a bad connection.  I did several speed tests but only one of them have worked, while speedtest.net hasn't been working at all and all the other have an error when it comes to my upload test.  Anyways, the one that did work said this:

Download Speed:  17.28 Mbps

Upload Speed:  16 Mbps

Is this a good connection?  If not, how can I make it better?

This is my connection. You DON'T need high speeds to AB well.

That connection is more than sufficient to do well if you consider how much I can make on a normal basis.

Hmm.  I wonder what's wrong with my ABer...  I have the free version but I still see a lot of people make millions in a week with it.  If I have a decent connection and I'm using the lowest rates allowed, then I don't see what's wrong?

You just need to make a list. Check this guide out for help on how to do that.

If you're ABing in Magic or Stamps, you have a lower likelihood of getting items compared to other shops including lower populated ones like food or bookshop or tiki tak shop. To be honest, to have a better chance of ABing more valuables items is to get advanced (fill in surveys to get it for free) or AB in lesser populated shops. You still can get amazing items, but it's still very unlikely with being a free member. Just know that with advanced, you do have amazing potential with ABing. Otherwise for now, follow Ivysaur's advice.

If you're talking about profit rates, it's because the people making millions AB in Magic and Stamps. A lot of people restock there so you have to be lucky if you get an item ABing there.

It doesn't have much to do with you down/up speed, a small ping helps you more.

Good guide, I've never used notepad++ before.

I guess it does make sense that everyone only makes such big profits from magic and stamps now that I think about it...and I might buy the adv. membership later, but definitely not now (as I am broke :\).  Anyways, thank you for the help everyone, and I will follow your advice!

You can fill out surveys here (like Slowpoke said) and get credit to buy Advanced Membership. It's tedious but hey, you get it for free.

Yeah I know about the surveys, but I'd rather just pay for it once I have the money than to do all those surveys...

And about the list (guide), I don't see how making a list will let me choose which shops to AB in, or how the list will somehow link to the autobuyer.  I've done the list, but I don't see how I can "connect" it with my ABer?

How to get the ABer to use the list? Or how the ABer "knows" where to shop?

I'm pretty sure that the Item Database pretty much tells Abrosia where to find each item in your list (someone else can probably give you a much more technical explication).

I do suggest however, that you make sure that your list contains items from one store only, that way the ABer isn't flipping from one store to another.

Just to get the ABer to use the list.  Right now I'm just testing it with stamps only, but I plan to change it if (/when) it works.

I'm not sure if this picture answers your question or not...

Stamps/magic are VERY competitive.

Jealous??? No. :p

Spoiler

Though with your speeds you should have no problems getting items due to your speeds. Though check your settings.

Yeah. Stay away from those if you're ABing on your main.

Be careful.
