I've collected stamps on neopets for longer than I care to admit. I have restocked at the stamp shop on many occasions including manually rather than using an AB. I've been noticing a slow but gradual increase in the prices of all but the most common of stamps. I've posted some links below that perfectly demonstrate what I'm talking about.

I have of course handpicked some the graphs that best show gradual increases without wild fluctuations but overall, stamps seem to be going up in price. There is of course the exception of newer stamps which are decreasing in price until they reach the point where the level off naturally. I have many theories of what could contribute to this.

1. The increased number of stamps leads to the stamp shop being more full more often so fewer rare stamps can appear during restocks

2. It's just general inflation not specific to stamps related to an increase in the NP supply

3. More people are collecting stamps because it's just plain awesome and cool to do so

4. TNT just arbitrarily decided that stamps should restock less often than they used to

Thoughts? Has anyone else noticed this? Am I just plain crazy? Have you guys noticed a gradual inflation in your item categories?

if I could put in my two thoughts I'd say that with the user increase on neo perhaps more users are looking into stamp collecting since avatars seems to bring the most joy out of users now days
or its some grand scheme to take over neopia and breed jubjub fetuses to do tnts bidding D:

damn I really live up to my username

User INCREASE? It's been steadily declining for ages (username that is).

I took a long hiatus (from about 2009 - 2012), when I got back on 3 years later the average amount of users online went from 9,000 - 11,000 to 13,000 - 14,000.
This is of course coming from observation however, but I never remember back in 2009 the amount of users being more than 12,000.

I would say that the third and especially the second theory are most logical. The amount of users has definitely been on a steady decline, but the mean age of those users is probably larger. Lots of players will buy on multiple accounts as well.

Well I usually tend to stock at the stamp shop and this past week I've definitely noticed that almost all day, (even late hours) the shop is never less that about 17 items. I haven't noticed a change in the items getting restocked. Although I remember that in the past when I'd restock an item worth around 30kish, I'd usually get two. That hasn't happened at all within the past month or so but I'm not sure if that even has anything to do with this. I'll start making a graph of the items I run across with the AB and we could always go from there.

I've also noticed a decrease in my AB profits this week.  Especially yesterday.  Maybe it's just me...

It's been averaging about 13k for a while now so it seems to have levelled off a bit, we have only been tracking it for about the last 9 months though so we can't really tell if it's seasonal yet.

It's likely because more users are attempting to a) get into stamp collecting as a way to make their account more "complete" and/or b) potentially get the stamp collector avatars.

Option one seems most likely - considering that a quite a few stamps have been 'keyquested' or 'battledomed', therefore noone wants to buy them from the post office when they could be bought for 1np at a user shop.

I guess if people want more of those stamps to stock it just means clearing the shop, so there is room for them.
