I'm level 30 right now and was thinking about leveling it up for the better prizes but if the market is saturated then i might not do it.

Yeah, if you're into avatars do it at least until you got it. I think the price are worthless, but if you like big numbers you might want to fish daily just to get your stat higher.

I just like to think of my pet as a pro fisherman. Wranglin' up some giant squid and what not.

The vortex gives out Transmogrification Potions and last time I checked "Flask of Rainbow Fountain Water" was worth something.

I do skip a few dailies that don't give good stuff (like Apple Bobbing, Giant Omelette/Jelly, etc) but the Fishing Vortex is not one of them ^^

After the avatar, its not really worth it. Catching prizes worth anything from fishing is rare and you can only do it after really high levels anyway.

I find it fun, I enjoy raising my pets fishing level, and catching random junk

Eh, I'd say it's better to keep doing it than to not. And if I'm not mistaken, the pet's fishing level stays if it's transferred, so that might be worth it if you plan on trading anytime down the road.

From what I can tell a pet's fishing level is associated with the user account.

So if you transfer a pet that's Level 100 from Joe's account to Jane it would revert to Level 0.
Jane transfers the pet back to Joe and it'll be back to Level 100.

Not really... it's worth it if you're just going for the avatar.  Other than that, the prizes are total junk that end up at the Money Tree.

Some claim that the probability goes up the higher you go, but i believe luck's a bigger factor

If you're definitely going to keep your pet/s in the long run, then do it. You can get prizes worth alot, like those potions mentioned above. I don't know why people would say that "its only junk" if they don't even know, and have done no research into it lol

 

Plus high fishing level reflects legitimacy and dedication. Just make a post like "Raise fishing level of [pet name] to 300 -  [ X ]" and people will be very impressed

The prizes that are worth something from fishing are as follows:

Irritable Genie-in-a-Bottle - level 70+

Mysterious Swirly Potion - level 80+

Flask of Rainbow Fountain Water - 87+

 

Paint brushes and transmorgification potions are also caught occasionally but I don't know of anyone who has caught one
