Interesting read! Shows us the inner workings of the TNT to some extent. Anyone else have any instances of this happening?

It's a bit ridic the way they flag things that they use. K-bomb, tiki bomb, p-bomb... etc.

I've heard MDR used before. it's a french term, I think it means something like LOL in our "texting" english vocabulary. Obviously this has nothing to do with their take on it though, so I'm clueless but curious..

It'll be on that list because of MSN Messenger.

If so, that's just silly since MSN - (1) has been called Windows Live Messenger for a long time, and (2) has been closed down and merged with Skype (so it is not even called WLM any more).

How do these bugs even happen, wtf. Printing random database entries, fine.. but only staff messages? They fucked up pretty hard.

Please feel free to return to your regular YouTube/Offsite monitoring.

Would this be considered proof that they monitor offsite sites such as Codex?

I wouldn't doubt it, it's not like it hasn't been speculated before anyway. Although most of what they'll find here is just random topics about nothing and "Ambrosia".

We old people still refer to MSN because that's all there was back in the day. :p

There isn't much to monitor tbh, they already know how the programs work because they're all fairly simple processes and have remained largely the same for the last 10 years or so. As long as you aren't posting usernames etc in public there's nothing there for them to monitor. It's a bit different for other sites such as those which support and encourage scamming and hacking because it leaves them open to legal approaches if TNT thinks they've crossed a line with their activities.

I know, I'm pretty old too (I'm in my twenties) :p But wouldn't pedos be using more current names/programs if their motive is to prey on children and not old farts like us? :p

They'll have the other names of messenger programs on there too, MSN has probably been on there for years and they just haven't taken it off. :p

Interesting! If they have all these methods to catch cheats then why won't they tell you what reason you were frozen when they freeze you. :angry

They ignore all questions asking why the account was frozen.

I suppose if they tell you what it was that tipped them off to you cheating then you'd know to avoid that in the future and they clearly don't want better cheaters :p

That would be my best guess anyway.

Don't they give you a general reason (e.g. using programs, scamming, etc)?

Only if they feel like it. Some people have gotten a "Sorry, we can't reveal why you're frozen. Please contact help." response.

^This.

Generic/non-responses seem to be their standard protocol.

It seems more like an abbreviation for Master Data Record or something close to that. They refer to it as a list of things to watch so it makes sense.

Did another one of these messages happen today or yesterday? I was just in Neopets and noticed a board in the HC about a 'glitch'. It has been deleted...yet. :ohwell:

That makes more sense, but it's a really weird way to abbreviate it  O_o

Okay, so I'm a little late, but I found out today about the "glitch" that happened the other day. You know what I mean. Anyway, I never realized before how much you guys really do to protect users from not so nice people. I started playing on this site at a young age and now I'm 25 and a mom who hopes to pass this site on to my daughter someday. I just wanted to say thank you to everyone that keeps this site safe for users of all ages. :) ~hotpinkfishfood
Thanks to you and everyone else who wrote in about it. :) (To ease the curiosity of others: It was a log of the notices that get sent out to the Monitoring team.) You guys are really important to us, and we know sometimes we can be a bit strict, but we fight hard to keep Neopia a safe and pleasant place where you can relax and have fun. Our poor shield-bearers have seen and read a lot of truly awful things, but thanks to their tireless efforts, most of you will never have to witness that darker side of the Internet during your time in Neopia.

lol they adressed the fuck up in the Neopian Times editorial :p
