Greetings, my name is Jebuiz y'Scot. In continuing the Codex tradition of celebration years ending in odd numbers, I am pleased to announce the 2013 Neocodex Advent Calendar will begin at midnight.

 

For those of you who are new to this, similar to the Neopets Advent Calendar - we're giving away prizes for most of the Holiday Season. Due to a late start from ... yours truly - this Advent Calendar will be running from December 1st to December 31st - so that's 31 chances to win all throughout december!

This one will be run a little different from last year - everyone who wishes to enter will have to PM me (Jebuiz y'Scot) and for each one of these days, a member will be chosen at random (completely random, no bias, using a random number generator).

There is no prerequisite to being eligible for the Advent Calendar. Simply PM me, let me know you're interested and your name will go into the hat. The first PM will serve as our correspondence for the duration of the event. Do not create new PMs. Additional messages will be deleted.

NOTE #1: There are 31 chances to win, but there are unlimited spots. If we have more than 31 members, I'm afraid some may lose out! Sorry!!
NOTE #2: Upon winning a day's prize, you will be taken off the list for the other days - to make it fair.

I'm going to give another day or two to let people sign up or donate. I have been thinking of how to organize the prizes. Last year they were collected and their value had to be estimated and adjusted based on ets/hts, and then there was the question of how to quantify nc or advanced membership in terms of np. And grouping them into roughly equal prize packages was a pain so... all this is to say this year's system will be much simpler..

 

 

How Winners and Prizes Are Determined

 

Names will be assigned random numbers, then a range will be input into random.org to pick a winner. The resulting winner will have two 6-sided die rolled for them. The first die will determine their np prize x100,000 for a maximum of 600,000 NP. The second die will determine if they win a bonus prize based on the day. For example, today December 1st is an odd number so an odd result will grant them a prize worth between 250k - 1 million.

 

That should give everyone who gets their name picked a guaranteed pure np prize and 1 in 2 chance of winning a bonus item prize (Tier 1, up to 1,000,000 NP). (Odds: 1 in 2)

 

If they rolled doubles, the bonus item prize will be a Tier 2 prize(up to 7,000,000 NP), regardless of even/odds. (Odds: 1 in 6)

 

For Tier 3 Prizes(worth 7 +million) I have decided to roll a 3rd die iff they rolled doubles initially. If the 3rd die matches the value of the first two they win a grand prize like ghostkerbomb or sword of Darkness. (Odds: 1 in 36).
