Many of you will remember our post before Christmas where we spoke at length about how we spent a ridiculous amount of money on alcohol. Well, now we're drinking it all, and more, and I wanted an opportunity to show off.

Under the guise of sharing tips, recipes and general impressions, of course, but still showing off nonetheless.

Let me be clear. I don't give a shit about your can of Budweiser, or the pint of Shiner you had at the bar, or even the glass of mediocre rosé you had at the staff Christmas party. Dazzle me, you fuckers, dazzle me.

So, to begin. We were, a little while ago, in a Ruby Tuesday where the waitress suggested a shooter called a PB&J. This was a half-measure of Chambord, and a half-measure of Frangelico - black raspberry and hazelnut liqueurs, respectively.
Just today, we recreated it with some of the Chambord I bought for the New Year's Eve champagne, and substituted the Frangelico (which is wildly expensive to buy here) for one of our most recent purchases: Trader Vic's Macadamia Nut Liqueur ($15 for 750ml - but surprisingly smooth, and totally delicious).

We also bought a new bottle of absinthe, and got our first two absinthe spoons at last! Of course, we don't have any sugar cubes made up right now, so we haven't opened it. It's also too tall for our liquor cabinet, which is more than a little irritating, so it's sitting on top with our crappy drinks like an outcast :crybaby:

Up North we don't drink socially (or responsibly).

We drink professionally.

Better than buying a premixed can. Good grief.

Are the premixes that bad?

I wanted to try the gin and tonic, but I'm really fussy about my gin and tonic ratios. :/

I would never buy one :p A mixed drink should be an individual (or double) serving. A pitcher at most.

Certainly not a portion from a vat. It's offensive.

So half pints of gin, and scaring it with the tonic is an acceptable way to drink?

Not for me. Gin is a foul spirit =P

Although I may just be jaded because Bombay Sapphire isn't actually blue.

It goes blue when you add the tonic ;)

Gin is one of the few spirits I enjoy. Wait... I started to think about that... I don't like vodka. Or sambuca/anything with an aniseed taste to it.

I've been known to have G&T from a can on the train before.......I'm a classy act.

I was loving Chambord and prosecco over Christmas.

And I make a mean strawberry daiquiri. It just took a lot of attempts to spell daiquiri correctly.

Not in my experience, I'm afraid.

Cheap and classy :p A perfect combination.

Really, though, can't classical musicians afford proper champers these days?

You knows it, some things never change.

Unfortunately it gives me a terrible headache. Plus I'm only semi-pro these days, gave up all that travelling the world malarkey to stay home and be a doting wife.

My favorite drinks to order at a bar are a (not in order) White Russian, Amaretto Sour, or a Gin and Tonic. Recently (the last six months or so) I've been indulging and ordering scotch (aged, and not blended) If I'm at home, I drink wine. I don't particularly care for beer.

Right now I'm drinking a generous portion of amaretto (generic) with a splash of Chambord. Chambord is one of my new favorite things.

I have never had an amaretto sour. We have all the ingredients ingredients downstairs, so maybe tomorrow night I'll whip one up. We don't actually have a shaker yet (I know, I know), so I'll improvise.
