I had to take Nemo back to the shelter last night. I was contemplating it for a while. He just wasn't a good fit in my family. He was really really cute though, but when he wasn't being cute, he was a bully to Frodo. It was hard, but I think it was the right thing to do. He gave me those really big sad eyes when I said goodbye and I almost cried.

When I came back home, Frodo was extra lovey, and wanted so much attention. I think he likes being an only child. So I'll probably hold off on getting him a friend for a while.

A good way for me to tell if I'm having issues (since I ALWAYS look fat to myself in the mirror, still) is if I put on my old size 3 skinny jeans from when I was 15 and fit/healthy and I find myself swimming in them. Tried them on today for the first time in quite a while and they're so loose and baggy on me that they look terrible and I can't wear them. Fuck.

 

At least my yoga pants aren't baggy on me again. Looking back that was actually terrifying, although I was barely even coherent at the time.

 

But yeah. I need to find a workable solution for this and maybe gather enough balls to start eating more or I'm screwed again.

It's okay that you didn't know. People often forget skinny people can feel ashamed of their weight as well. But they can and it's important we try not to compare our struggles (overweight vs. skinny). I learned the hard way and accidentally made my cousin (who cannot gain weight) feel bad by simply saying "you're so skinny" once, even though, I was underweight at the time. It was just an observation I voiced. I didn't realize that was something he felt badly about. He got very angry with me and I apologized. He later apologized for being short with me, since obviously I didn't know he was insecure about it.

@RedLoveBlackHeart Now you know to be more aware about that. It's harder online because you don't know who is on the other side. I know a lot of underweight people with gastroporesis who feel shame and hurt when people make those comments because they literally cannot eat (some have feeding tubes) and are slowly wasting away due to a dysfunction of the stomach and intestines.

I realize now that my wording could easily come across the wrong way but honestly I meant no harm by it. I said what I did from my point of view (a person that has a hard time losing/keeping weight off) as opposed to has a hard time gaining. I wasn't poking fun at what she said or was trying to be insensitive by any means, although it might have come across that way.
