Oh, this one's a long-ish one. I can delve into more details if you wish (via PM), but tl;dr: Unethical employee was narc'd on.
I've had a problem gnawing away at me at work for the past couple weeks regarding ethical issues. An employee of my company was falsifying data and fabricating (negative connotation) specifications for jobs.
I had previously broached the issue with my GM and President. At the time, the guy in question was going through some tough shit regarding his (now ex) wife. The GM at the time, and President, both "Ostrich Maneuvered". So, I figured "That's the end of that." I knew the problem arose again within the last few weeks, and it's been bothering me to no end. It was one of the few jobs in our shop the employee in question was in charge of handling (it was mine for a little before, but I swapped jobs with the employee in question because our customer needed a prompt response, and the employee in question was making no progress on it). I knew the employee in question did not touch the job, which is indicative of bullshitting specifications... I shared that with nearly half our office, finally when I told one of the guys I actually look up to he's like "Dude, go double check your shit, but I cannot in good faith allow this to fly as a P.E."
So he told the GM and President for me. It's good because, despite a few minor qualms, I enjoy the job and I want to stay with the company. I was not, however, going to stay with it while the employee in question was still employed. The problem is killing my motivation at work, it's something I take home with me (even though I know I shouldn't), it is just eating away at me. I started updating my resume this week because of the issue. So if this brings some resolution to it, I'd be thrilled.
