Oh good. I've got to say, I've had a cat join me in the bathroom before, and I expect a chicken would be about three times as awkward.

I feel like shit emotionally and physically because my girlfriend stayed up until 5 a m talking and then woke me up in the middle of the night and kept me up pretty much until I was ready to get up for the day anyway. She's got insomnia and anxiety and her last final of the semester is today, so I don't blame her, but it sucked.

Made an appointment with the optician because I've been suspecting for a while now my vision's been going bad and I need glasses. Since I'm already half-deaf (like, fully eligible to get an insurance-reimbursed hearing aid but too stubborn and proud to get one) it feels super scary to get visual aid.

@Kaddict I had brain/neck surgery. A sub-occipital craniectomy, C1 laminectomy, C2 laminoplasty, with cerebellar tonsil resection and dural graft. The bills are small, because my insurance covers most of it, but the thing is I've still got more bills to come in. It's going to add up very quickly. All the bills, aside from the one for the actual neurosurgery portion (which was $50,000), have just been for imaging, labs, tests and stuff. I still haven't received the bill for the 3 day hospitalization, the out-of-network doctors that were in my OR, etc. I'm hella bummed because the only thing I wanted to do for Christmas was buy my husband a new desk chair but now I'm not even sure we can afford that. Our bank is always depressingly strained this time of the year. We'll bounce back. We always do.
