there are plenty of reasons to stop playing neopets. one of them is the fact that the state of neopets is getting worse every day with its endless stream of glitches. just when everyone thought the site cannot get ANY lower, they got sued and caught stealing graphics from another site.
the epitome of laziness
YOU DESERVE BETTER. with the website inching nearer and nearer towards the end of its lifecycle, here is a handy guide to help you abandon this sinking ship we all call neopets while gaining the most out of it.
1. donate your stuff
the first thing you can do is to give away all your items or neopoints you've grown attached to to other people. you can do this in neopets via the money tree or simply giving them all away to selected neofriends.
in neocodex, we have an entire subforum dedicated for people wanting to host their own giveaways. do you know you can earn yourself an adorable award by simply hosting a giveaway here? how awesome is that?
aww, look at you with your single award!
if you're feeling generous, you can also be a patron by donating prizes to many of neocodex user-generated contests.
2. liquidate your assets
if you’re greedy giving away stuff for free isn't your style, perhaps you can try selling your neo-wealth! once you’ve met the requirements, you will gain access to neocodex trading area where you can sell whatever you want for some cash. compared to the old days, you won’t profit much since the exchange rate of 1 mil neopoints to other[1] has decreased, but hey, it’s better than nothing! if you don't want cash tho, you can try trading your items for things from other games. bear in mind to observe our trading rules to avoid yourself getting lumped together with all of these losers. *shudders*
3. self-freeze
this may sound a little harsh but it HAS TO BE DONE. leaving your neopets account accessible when you have already decided to stop playing is like an AA member keeping a mini-bar in their house. wipe your tears and bulldoze that shit.
here's neopets self-freeze link: http://www.neopets.com/remacct.phtml. all you have to do is insert your username and password and VOILÁ, YOU'RE A FREE MAN. in case you change your mind later –which i hope you don’t– you can just nag TNT via email to give back your account as all self-frozen accounts will not be automatically purged. this step is basically just to help limiting your access to the site.
4. search for another site
now that you've cut yourself loose from neopets both materialistically and spiritually, you may search for an alternative to release all of that pent up virtual pet-caring energy. here are some suggestions:
- flight rising. flight rising offers a unique and refreshing dynamic compared to neopets. it has excellent artwork all-around, thriving community and DRAGONS! our neocodex community consists of flight rising players that exploits the game using cheating programs. if you're interested in checking that out, go here to apply for access to our hidden FR subforum.
- kaylune. kaylune is a newcomer in this whole virtual pet business but it's already very popular. we have a small group of people playing kaylune here who will be more than happy to help you out with quests and whatnot if you decide to join.
of course, there are plenty more websites that you can check out. go here to see a comprehensive directory of all virtual-pet websites available out there.
5. quitting cold turkey
perhaps after neopets you decide it is the end of your virtual pet-caring career and you want to pursue more interesting hobbies like stamp-collecting or something. if that’s the case, i wish you all the best!
…and that’s it! i hope you guys find this helpful! *continues playing turmac’s roll*
