I've heard some people hate navigating shop layouts. Which do you prefer? Do you use a shop layout? Do you not like seeing shop layouts when using the shop wizard?

Depends on the layout I suppose. If it's just a pretty background or border or some such it's fine. As long as it doesn't interfere with loading time or my navigating the shop/site it's fine by me.

I cant stand shop layouts personally. They are a pain to load and scroll through.

If you're going to do a layout, keep it simple with neutral colors and easily navigable. Nothing makes me more annoyed than an overly coded bright colored shop. lol

I usually use a simple and clean CSS layout and remove all the extra garbage that TNT thought was a good idea.

 

But the graphic layouts that add to loading time, make things hard to read; those are annoying.

I personally don't like shop layouts, they're a nuisance for kad feeders too. I mean it's fine if it's an easy to navigate but the big banners and things are just awful.

Shops with flashy layouts remind me of viruses for some reason ~.~

I don't like shop layouts at all, not even pure text without any image.
They try to emphasize what is best in the shop, but I always use shop wizard. Only the price matters to me.

I don't like shops layouts because is a visual pollution. Except when is simple and with neutral colors.

I prefer no shop layout, although it makes no difference.

I don't mind them, as long as I don't have to scroll very far. But I think outlets of self-expression on neopets are much better placed on lookups, since nobody's going to your shop to learn more about you.

It seems like basically everyone agrees that having no layout is best, but most people can ignore simple layouts.

No shop layout... I don't even like most gallery/user/guild/etc layouts either. Too much clutter when I just want the basic info. Dream is that one day they'll offer an option just to turn off the layouts, but let the people who want to see them still do it. But, of course, this is Neopets we're talking about.

I like shop layouts! They have to be non-clunky though and relatively simple.. but I find it enhances my experience when I see something nicely designed haha

what the point of a layout if it provides no function?

Find some kind of exploit that you can abuse, and then string it up with the layout to get the most bang for your efforts

There are some that are nice and there are some that are... well, bothersome.

 

I'm trying to buy an item, why do i have to scroll down all this stuff with the wait wHY DID YOU CHANGE MY CURSOR AND MADE THE LETTERS 3px HIGH??

I am blind and I enjoy criticizing stuff, please, don't overload the layouts. So much pain.

I go with the defaults because I want to make it easy to buy stuff; having to scroll down extra far because they have a fancy Draik graphic or whatever is just annoying.

I hate layouts, sometimes it loads too long or you have to scroll further down to buy the item.

I hate layouts as well unless it's a simple css. Everytime I enter in a shop and have to scroll and see that letters small as fuck I want to kill myself.

I hate the shops that have a billion images before the actual items for sale or blocks the 1 item I need to buy because of their layout.

If that happens and the item I want isn't too expensive, I'll just go back and buy it from another shop.

Honestly I feel like having grown up looking through tons of shops with all kinds of layouts, my mind's kinda gotta.. immune/blind to it? It's kinda funny bc as a web designer I should notice and be more peeved about such things but all I notice are the items. My mind automatically blocks out the layout whether there one or not so it doesn't bother me.
