most mutants would be awesome to customise with goth like clothing, fire and shadow combined with colourful clothing items make a great punkish feel, and checkered are awesome uncustomised.

I don't like checkered, but you're right, there are some cool items to create punkish-pets. Tried it lots of times. I really want to have the nc-moehawk, it looks great at some of my pets. But poorly I'm against spending money on neopets....
