Sorrow - goto the FAQ and follow the " I've tried everything, and it's still not working" section
this will give you debug logs - Please PM them to me, and i'll just check that nothing odd is going on, i still think it's caused because the program cannot connect to the internet

When I am trying to use the Sloth Decoder, the Check comes up. I type in my user and pass, then at the bottom, it says Logged in, Verifying Program 0. The program never comes up, and severl minutes later, Run-time error '40006'
Wrong protocol or connection state for therequested transaction or request. After that, another window pops up. It says DLL Set-Up Error -RunCodexCheck - Automation error. I checked the internet and the firewall, and they are both ok. What should I do?

check your firewall/router settings - the program is not being allowed to access the internet

I checked my firewall/router settings. It is off right now, so it can't possibly not allowing access to internet

I keep getting
Run-time error '40006'
Wrong protocol or connection state for the requested transaction or request
I have basically the same problem as Gin.
Does this mean the server is too busy to verify the decoder or is it my fault?

I'm not sure why people seem to be getting this error - it could be pretty much anything - I have tested on a number of different setups, but there are so many out there that it's impossible to check all

Someone who has this problem, can you install the attached version, you will need to extract it from the zip, and if in vista run the setup in admin mode
I would also like to know what your Operating systems are, and if you have any security 'stuff' installed/setup (eg are you a guest/restricted user on the machine - do you have AOL anti-fun installed or anything you think may be causing a problem)

Thanks Mumei. I installed the new version and had no problems. My OS is Windows XP, and my antivirus is AVG antivirus.

Okay, so, I'm really lost and confused. I've read the FAQs again and again, and tried to follow things, but nothing seems to be working.

Because my C drive is so full, everything is in my D drive. In there is: Neocodex Check V3, Make Me Rich, ActiveX Control Pad, and NPGrabba. I've done what everyone has said, but I don't even see the point of ActiveX Control Pad, because it's not
being used for anything. When I click on make me rich.exe I get the following error:

QUOTE
Codex Check Module Version: 3.1.4.0
DLL Creation Error -InitialiseCodexDLL- -2147024703- Automatian Error
%1 is not a valid Win32 application.

Click Okay

QUOTE
Code:0601-Reference:-603
Error: Start CodexCheck Failed

NPGrabba gives me the same message, but then works, however, it only gave me around 3K.

So really, I'm sorry if I sound stupid or noobish, but there's really no clear explanations on ActiveX Control Pad, and how to do any of this. Help would be highly appreciated. Sorry and thank you.

control pad is required as it installs full unicode support for VB6
you need to install some dlls that will be registered, for that to happen, they need to go into your system32 folder, if your C drive is so full you can't do that, you should really look at a little housekeeping

when you try to run it, right click on it, and select properties in there there is a compatibility tab, try a few of the settings in there to try and get it working
(first off try running it as admin and in XP mode)

Ok so, heres something everyone should know after fiddling around a bit.

1) The required stuff are as stated, the VB runtime, library files, and the activex thing.
2) This program as well as other programs do not work on non-English native systems, at least for me it didn't. I tested 2 system, 1 is 64bit vista ultimate, 2 is 32bit xp sp2, My vista's non-unicode was set to Japanese, although its an English installation, the native was set to Japanese, same goes for my xp which was set to Chinese PRC. Once I reverted back to English (US) for non-unicode settings, the programs all worked fine on the xp. I have yet to test the vista but I assume its pretty much the same.

The error that the codexchecker gets is 40006 and stalls on checking program if you are in a situation like mine, although if your system is native English then there should be another problem. The other programs on this site will give a overflow error when you have non-unicode set to anything other than English.

Some things to check for are router firewall (192.168.x.1 where x is 0-2, sometimes your router might be 10.x.x.1 but mostly its the first type for home users). The windows system guard and firewall should be turned off at all times since it does you no good. The User control thing in vista is also garbage and annoying, I rather get blackice firewall than have that thing annoy me endlessly, you can turn it off at control panel, user accounts if you're on administrator.

You can change non-English native system to non-Unicode English through the Region and Languages in control panel as well, so it doesn't matter what native system you install, just keep the non-Unicode program settings to English (US).

Anyways hopes this helps, took me a good 20 minutes to remember my systems are not set to English (since the interface and dialogs are still English due to English installation).

well put together, and if you looked up this topic - you'll see that there's a special version of the codex check that supports allows you to use any language - however it's not as quite secure as the real one (one of the levels of encryption i use was written using byte level encryption and i've not had time to re-write it) - the router advice is good too - i'm currently working on a secure java checks and once that's done i may come back to this VB one.
