Okay, I'll admit that I myself want to go see Snakes on a Plane, and that I've muttered things in chats at random such as "MOTHER****ER! THERE'S MOTHER****ING SNAKES ON THIS MOTHER ****ING PLANE!" just because Samuel L. Jackson talk is awesome.

...but...

You gotta admit... It's a pretty crappy premise for a movie. It's got all the earmarks of a terrible story, box-office bomb. Yet still... Everyone is all about the Snakes on a Plane!

WHY?! WHAT FORCE IS DRIVING THIS FILM?!

Viral marketing. Someone finds out about it, they tell other people, other people tell more people, and so on.
The movie premise is just SO stupid, that people talk about it.
The more people talk about it, the more excited they get. Even if it's something completely stupid, it's turned into some huge deal.

Did you ever hear about Eon8? So many people got freaked out and worked up about it, even though it turned out to be nothing.

And it's, "I'm tired of these mother****in' snakes on this mother****in' plane!!"

It's too bad I won't be able to see it opening day; I'll be at my my girlfriend's graduation from Marine basic training..

I don't know either. The beginning of the trailer I saw looked cool, but once it started talking about there being "snaked on a plane", I thought, "This movie is the most retarted thing I've ever seen". After the trailer my freind said, "DUDE! THAT LOOKS AWESOME".

Its the movie that is driving the movie. Snakes on a Plane is odd, somewhat stupid, and leave a lot of things open in the plot of the movie. People will just go see it to see how stupid it is or to acually see what the hell the movie has in it and the plot other than the snakes... which are on a plane.

I went to a test screening of it. It's notorious, because it's full of B movie throwbacks. It was a movie made for fans of Samuel L. Jackson. It's not a bad movie, but nobody actually thinks it's a good plot.

yea the "Snakes on the plane" title already kills the whole movie saying "dont watch me I suck"
Although everyone likes it because they gave away some special prizes or something and some people watched before it even came out and recieved prizes.. Someone posted here that they won and got prizes and saw the movie before it came out..

Like someone above said, it's about curiosity. This film is so stupid, that we're all discussing it's stupidity in this thread. Actually not it's stupidity, but how stupid we THINK it will be. Most of us will go to watch it to find out if it really was as stupid as we first thought.

i dont think this movie is going to be that great because i think it is a stupid idea that snakes can be on planes killing people

The thing with SoaP is, of course because of the Intarweb community, the movie will actually do well, despite it being a stupid idea for a flick.

Now that's all good and fun, but Hollywood will assume this is what the people will want, and will release more movies like this which isn't what people want to see [with the exception of the first one, SoaP of course].

It's a catch 22 situation, tbh

They've already reserved Snakes on a Boat. Snakes on a Plane is actually the remake of an old 70's flick where scorpions are on a plane.
