But honestly I think a lot of people love what they grew up with. My parents listened to NPR in the mornings when they woke up (before it was all talk crap and only played classical) and I think I love oldies because that's what I grew up with. The same I guess could be said with the crowd that likes pop or rock or.. whatever. There are exceptions, of course
Oh yes, and mind you, these are just my theories.

Most kids I know who listen to Metal are completely opposite of Goths.

Hypocrite, look at your imporper usage of the exclamation point, lack of the apostrophes, and lack of proper capitalization.
I listen to classical, rock, heavy metal, rap, R&B, hip-hop, techno, trance, some "emo" (AFI before they went super emo), D&B, blues, jazz, and alternative. Actually I listen to just about anything that sounds good to me, which sadly leaves most all country songs out.
Right now my GPA is a 4.43 and my top played song is "Damn it Feels Good to Be a Gangsta" by Ghetto Boys.

I listen to all sorts of music
Oldies
Rap
R&B
Rock
Spanish
Classical and Jazz when Im stressed it relaxes me.
Preety much everything except for Country and Reggeaton.
