Ever wondered whether the classical music aficionado next door has had a bit more schooling than the guy blasting rap from his car? New research suggests you may be on to something. A lot of the stereotypes concerning musical taste and socioeconomic status appear to be true.

Honestly... I'm not surprised. But I must say that it could be somewhat true for the people who I met who like classical. Ali and I for example I think really love it because we can appreciate the beauty from playing the instrument. (at least that's what I'm like) My father who has a bachelors loves classical because he took a music theory course and learned to love Bolero. I could name several other examples tongue.gif

But honestly I think a lot of people love what they grew up with. My parents listened to NPR in the mornings when they woke up (before it was all talk crap and only played classical) and I think I love oldies because that's what I grew up with. The same I guess could be said with the crowd that likes pop or rock or.. whatever. There are exceptions, of course tongue.gif

Oh yes, and mind you, these are just my theories.

So basically

Classical music = geeks
Rock and metal = goths
Rap and hip hop = stupid
Emo = emo.

Well.

What about all of us trance and electronic music fans? Other than that we're 'frequent shampooers'. Are we the druggies? tongue.gif

I listen to rap too, but mainly undergound stuff where the rapper isn't actually talking about how he 'banged' his hunny last night, or how many Mustangs he has in his gold plated mansion to pimp the streets of NY with. I listen to stuff that actually makes sense, and where the artist is actually trying to promote a message with his music.

Its not easy to apply a stereotype to many people, simply because of the variety of music they listen to.

Take me for example. I have metal, classical, rock, blues and country/rock/whatever it is all on one playlist tongue.gif

I listen to rap, and I'm passing all my classes. (Can't say straight A cause I never did that, i only have one A out of like 7 classes.)

Hypocrite, look at your imporper usage of the exclamation point, lack of the apostrophes, and lack of proper capitalization.

I listen to classical, rock, heavy metal, rap, R&B, hip-hop, techno, trance, some "emo" (AFI before they went super emo), D&B, blues, jazz, and alternative. Actually I listen to just about anything that sounds good to me, which sadly leaves most all country songs out.

Right now my GPA is a 4.43 and my top played song is "Damn it Feels Good to Be a Gangsta" by Ghetto Boys.
