This isn't about whether America should be ready or not. It also is not about whether or not female candidates are qualified. Rather, the question is: Is America ready for a female president?

I for one do not believe so. Unfortunately, America is a very conservative society to this day. We've certainly made progress seeing as 70 years ago women wern't even allowed to vote, but I still don't believe we're ready for such a change.

Agreed. I don't think that a lot of Americans would be able to deal with it :-\

I believe that our society could easily handle the transition into a female as president. I don't how ever believe that society as a whole would be able to realize that a female president could do the job and actually vote for a female even if she is qualified.

The south, specifically, can't even handle a male democrat, and I do not believe they will be able to near tolerate a female democrat.

*blinks* I don't see how America couldn't handle it. Last time I checked Hilary Clinton was leading the polls on most popular democrat. Mind you, I don't want her to win myself... but if she did win I don't think people would mind her being female at all. I don't see what the problem is. Washington State has a female governor, all the senators female, and one congresswoman. We have no trouble with it at all tongue.gif

Honestly I don't even think about what the gender is. I always think about the politics.

And she better bring it to me, infront of the TV. I must not walk to get it 1we8.gif

To answer your question:
No.

xD what are you talking about?

Until 2003 Georgia had been electing democratic governors for 130 years! The governor of Louisiana is a democrat (FEMALE at that!), the Lieutenant Governor of Mississippi was a female democrat but she switched to republican after election. In Texas, while she is not a democrat a woman is a senator. And in Alabama Lucy Baxley is running for Governor as a democrat after being lieutenant governor tongue.gif

There are plenty happy.gif The south (while many people think so) is no all red. There's a lot of democrats running. It isn't the south that is red, it's middle america. Places like Idaho or Nebraska.

Ha. I wouldn't want to be the first female president for the same reason that I wouldn't want to be the first black president: I don't want to die.

To quote Dave Chapelle, "I wouldn't mind being president. Not the first one, but maybe the second or third one, but that first nigga better watch out."

Personally, I would welcome a female president. But not hillary.

while we're at it, how about

a lesbian/republican/muslim for president! break all the standards!

anyways, who cares what their race is? although i don't like hillary clinton, (i love bill though) i don't think that politics should be race/gender dependant.

i wouldn't mind barack obama as our new president.

I don't think a lesbian muslim is possible.

And I think Barak is too young. Isn't he in his mid thirties?

Edit: Actually, Barak is 45. That'd be the perfect age IMO. Young enough to be somewhat connected to the people, old enough to not scew a Monroe in the oval office (then again, clinton was over 60 when he did his buisiness in the White house).

Jokingly speaking, a female president would be disastrous. A country would be in extreme danger of bombing monthly xD

Seriously speaking, I don't think so. Most men wouldn't approve tongue.gif

An article pertaining to this topic.

What I found funny was I was reading through the article thinking that "Commander and Chief" was terribly unpopular and was recently taken off the air laugh.gif

Also I have a question.. if a woman were elected, would there be a first man? ninja.gif

I think you asked the question wrong...it should be:

Are women ready to become the leader of our country?

Oh yeah...and I say no. Don't feel like explaining at the moment.
