I used a Windows XP Home Edition CD (SP1) to format and reinstall Windows on one of our family desktops, however, while it is reinstalling the OS, the progress seems to get stuck at 33 minutes. I know that the computer has not frozen because the part of the screen that changes and tells you about the new features of XP will cycle through it's different screens. I left the computer on for almost 48 hours the first time I did this and the second and third times, I let it only go for about 12 hours before I got fed up with it again.

Any advice as to why it seems to freeze at 33 minutes? Is it actually freezing up or could it really just take a few days for XP to install on this older computer...?

I don't have another Windows XP disc and it doesn't ask for a key. The only way to register Windows these days is after it's installed.

I know it shouldn't take that long, but I can't figure out why it is doing whatever it is doing, or lack thereof.

Hmm is there anyone that can hook you up i think the blame is on the cd scratched up or something. Did you try cleaning the cd with a damp cloth yet?

I'm sure I could get one. It would just be a pain in the arse to do so.

Looking at the disc, it appears to be perfectly fine. It's only been used a few times and has been safely stored so that it would not get scratched...
