Neocodex Celebrates Three Years

Three years ago, on January 19th, 2004, a website entitled "Neocodex" was started by its founding fathers, Hydrogen and Raredaredevil. The website's main focus was to provide quality legal cheating resources for the online game NeoPets. Our focus was simple: to not aim for popularity, but to aim for excellence in the focus we have chosen. As far as we were concerned, pleasing our members and preserving our focus came first.

This has not changed today. Over the last three years, our site has grown substantially. In this time, our members have earned the site an exceptional reputation. The products we offer continue to be original (unless otherwise stated that it can be found elsewhere by the creator); you can't say that about many of the other sites out there! Every single one of our 4,650 members should be commended for bringing Neocodex to its present Big Boards status by posting almost 700,000 messages on our forum! The vitality of our site is simply remarkable. For having registrations closed for almost half of the site's life, I personally believe that the amount we have achieved in the past three years is a remarkable feat!

To date, production has completed on hundreds of programs and tutorials, all readily available for our members to use with no obligation. For some, profit motive is the motivation that drives them forward. Excellence is ours. To remain true to our original goal, we have asserted that we will never charge for our services in the future; Neocodex will always remain non-profit.

Now, this is a section I always tend to add to the anniversary topics. There will always be those who claim that the site is "dying" and such. If you are one of these people, the only thing I have to say is that I've seen too many people like you in my time here. wink.gif The site was 'clearly' dying two years ago according to some, and likewise a year ago, but we're somehow here and with a lot more to show for it. Rethink your doomsday prophecies and do not get caught up in the moment. wink.gif

So, on behalf of the staff, we would like to wish you a very happy Neocodex anniversary! As always, we, the staff, will work hard to make Neocodex a success for everyone. smile.gif

Private Member Section Renovation

This is a notice to inform everyone that everyone who holds the Private Member rank will be demoted from the area (those who have higher ranks will be exempt from this demotion) according to renovation plans on Saturday, January 20th. Content as well as a new voting system will be introduced and tried out. Please do not freak out, as we all understand that this is a big change. By no means will it reduce chances of getting into the area. The new voting system will favor relatively the same criteria, however other criteria may be considered and there is less chance for bias (more details will be posted up when the new system is put into practice). If we find the system is not serving it's purpose adequately, it will be removed and we will try something else!

Thank you for being so patient with the board changes. smile.gif

I'd hardly call 3 years a legacy, but hey, it's Codex, anything goes =P

Glad to see this site build up so much (even in the short time that I've been on it =P).

Hope the staff keeps doing a great job and I hope like hell I'll be around for year 5 =)

Wow. Three years and still going strong happy.gif. <3Codex, congratulations to us, keeping the board alive through all this time smile.gif. Codex is honestly the best forum site I've been on by far and I am glad to be apart of it.

And good luck to everyone that will be applying for Private. I hope this will solve many of the problems that have developed over time and Private can get a fresh new start. Will the next applications be held in Febuary or March?

February seems most logical, else they'd have waited til Feb 20 to demote.

biggrin.gif Three years is quite a feat, I'm happy to have been here for almost 2 of those years too.

Ocelot, why make a public fuss when it's not shocking news to you? Voice your concerns in the appropriate place, where they can actually be addressed.

Sorry, I already have.

Yay three years biggrin.gif

Well even though I have been with codex since the very beginning. I guess my inactivity (normally because it was beyond my control) means that I have a lot of time to make up wink.gif

Happy Anniversary

Lets look forward to number four now tongue.gif

Well...

I've been here near three years and I have to say this has to be one of my most consistent and favourite sites - for about two of those three years NeoCodex was my homepage and I would visit it every day - banned or otherwise wink.gif I know that the majority of the time I'm not exactly the perfect role model for newer members and for that I apologise - I apologise for everything and anything harmful or malicious I've done towards codex as I realise now that I don't particularly want to leave after all this time. I may not be progressing in ranks and codex is not what it used to be yet I still think some of the original traits and qualities codex has are still here and may always be...

A few days ago someone made a post relating to how I "don't give two shits about codex" - this is wrong... it's the complete opposite. I might not show it but I'm still entirely in love with codex... I've tried to leave before and have only returned because there is no equal in the aspect of quality of members and membership.

So - to everyone who has helped codex be what it is today and what it has been for the past three years now... Thanks.

Happy anniversary Codex.

Now let's cut the soppy shit and get back to being grumpy immature Dan again =D

Heh. I've been on codex since I was 11 years old, and I owe nearly everything I know to codex -- I seriously doubt that I'd know 3/4 of what I know now if I never signed up.

Codex is a magical thing, really -- I've been on different Neopets forums before, but there's something about them that just doesn't seem the same -- I find myself becoming inactive on these forums after maybe 10 posts and spending more time here. Seriously, codex has the potential to last much longer, and I'll do my best to see to it that it does. biggrin.gif

Go Codex! Shame I've only been here a little over a year, so I'm hardly one who can appreciate (first hand) how much Codex has progressed, but I've no doubt it has significantly, and I'm looking forward to the next year!
