Oh, and yes it speeds your internet up ALOT. I noticed instantly that browsing was a lot faster and my network connection was a lot better. Not to mention it's a whole lot securer than XP and has a lot of nifty features. I'm enjoying IIS 7.0 right now. One thing I found that was really cool is I went to install my audio drivers and the driver told me that it did not support my current operating system and closed. Right after that Vista popped up and told me that the program might have no installed correctly and then gave me an option to "Install using required settings". So I clicked that and the driver loaded up and worked fine. So I'm assuming they have a method of tricking programs made to run on XP to run on Vista.
alright, great
Another thing is that it comes with something like millions of drivers already, so there's pretty much nothing to install really.. which is great.

wait a few monthers, or if you're just PANICING OMG I NEED VISTA OH JEEZE OMG OMG, then get it now, but I recommend waiting at least 2-3 monthes if you can (due to the driver problems etc) its actually not buggy, extremely stable for me so far, been using it about a week, works nicely, performance is decent if you have a decent computer

It's up to you.. but I'd order it as soon as possible to make sure the deal doesn't expire or something. Order it, but you don't necessarily need to install it.

Get it asap, so you can enjoy it while you can.
There are going to be vulnerabilities found, and I'm guessing it's going to take a couple months time for them to be exploited, but when that comes around, patch wars once more.
I'm just hoping MS can keep the hackers at bay for a lil while with this.
Josh, any built in MS AV's in Vista?
Firewall?
Wutsup?

there's a built in antispyware, windows defender, and an improved firewall that actually has some advanced options. i don't really like the firewall, but defender seems to be ok

Antispyware, that is the most disgraced peace of software out there.
The only thing it's good for is it's process browser. That and how it shows the sources of each process.
Even shows hidden processes, that's the only use of that hyped up piece of crap. xD
Is defender an av?
I'll probably end up getting Black Ice if the firewall is that bad.

windows defender is the antispyware. i don't use it, but in a few tests i've seen it didn't do to badly

I can't get it though because I don't have the money for it and I also don't meet the requirements. I only have a 30 gig HD when it recommends 40, I only have 512 MB of RAM when it recommends 1 G, and my video card isn't good enough for Aero .

Vista has great compatibility. With XP I had to actually download drivers for my printer and other devices but Vista quicly installed it by itself. A few quirks happen here or there but nothing major.

go buy a 40 dollar video card that supports directx 9.. your card must be extremely old because even onboards have been DX9 for a while now..
ATI 9600/9700/9800 / the ATI X series / X1000 series
pretty much any video card for nvidia past the 4 series supports directx9 (not including 4, PAST 4)
