I told my mom I was going to do a quick round of laundry because my favorite jeans were dirty along with some of my shirts.
She says "No, its 10pm, I'm going to sleep, what if someone hits you on the head or something?"
1) The laundry room is in my building 2) Its a safe neigborhood 3) My building is surrounded by a metal fence and its impossible to enter without a key
I told her "How are you going to let me go live at another city for college if you won't even let me go down to make a laundry trip after 10 pm?"
I hate when people don't use logic.
I'm almost 18, almost 6 ft and 190 pounds... and my mom still treats me like a kid. It pisses me off.

I hate over protective parents. This is embaressing but ill admit that my mum went onto itunes and deleted all bad songs (well what she thought was bad). Like bloodhood gang, im an emo kid and some south park ones. Kinda crazy, theres nothing real bad about them!

my parents arent really overprotective but my cousins are, and it drives him crazy. He says that he "hates" them which i couldnt imagine saying about my parents to their face OR behind their back. I was out till 3 in the morning like 2 days ago and they didnt really mind tongue.gif but was out until 1 yesterday and they got mad... but it might also be because i broke the mirror on my moms car sad.gif but parents wil be parents!

edit: after reading your guy's stories, my parents seem in no way overprotective blink.gif mark this me ranting about my parents message spam then tongue.gif

It's always the little things for me. whenever I ride in the car with my mom and put my hand out the window she always has some sort of article that she has found about some person getting their hand cut off while putting their arm out the window so she makes me put it in... I really wonder where she finds these articles.

Ha. My Mom is underprotective. I could walk the streets at 3 AM if I wanted.

I am stronger man because of it....

Bullshit you can.
You can't stay out past NINEFUCKINTHIRTY at my house.
Because you know, you're 18 and a guy and can protect yourself.
Oh wait, it's her precious car and she goes to bed early and will never use it at night!

&& to stay on topic, my grandmother is way too protective. She is so positive that I'm going to get raped if I go to Wal-Mart after work (9 PM.....)

Meh, my parents were never particularly protective. I quite often disappear for days on end and my mother makes no attempt at contacting me to find out where I am or anything.

Why does it piss you off? She clearly loves you, and a lot of kids don't get that, so you should be grateful that she's looking out for your wellbeing, even if it is overprotective.

My parents aren't as over-protective as some...but they are a bit. I get drilled before I'm allowed to go out with friends, and I had to beg to go to the movies with a friend. I also get lectures all the time....even when I don't do stuff. Like this morning, my mom was lecturing me on older guys, when I don't even have a boyfriend.

I don't have overprotective parents... my Dad doesn't give a toss what I get up to, and my Mum is pretty relaxed, though I do get the odd miniquiz on my activities recently tongue.gif

However, I hate parents who think they know how to teach their kids to swim better than I can. I hate being watched while I work, but I have to put up with that... I just wish they wouldn't crossexamine me about it x_X

Well in my case I'm pretty lucky... my parents usually let me out as long as I know who I'm with and when (or around when) I'll be back. They don't mind me going out and stuff, but they'll wanna be informed, which makes perfect sense to me.

Although, yeah I really hate overprotective parents. For sure I can't put myself in their shoes, but I mean, most of them don't seem to have much common sense.

My parents used to be very protective. I but now they believe I can take care of myself now, or I just gained their trust.

I'm 6'2 and 185 pounds tongue.gif

My parents aren't really overprotective of me. I mean, I can't stay out until 3AM like some of you can, but I have no reason to stay out until 3AM anyway so I don't find them overprotective tongue.gif

I like to think of overprotective parents as parents who love too much. Either that or there's some screws lose tongue.gif

Haha, that sounds exactly like something my mom would do, how hypocritical, right?

I'm a college student living at home and a rule has been set that I need to be home by 11PM every night.

Jeez, that is really pretty protective o-o. My parents aren't at all really, they're sensible beings for the most part tongue.gif. The only thing my mum is a bit defensive on is the whole meeting an internet person, but even that she's okay with really, she just wants lots of reassurance they aren't a pedo first tongue.gif.
