I know this is my second topic in the last like...10 minutes but I figure if any time is the time to post topics now is the time, I am doing a service to my fellow members!

Anyways I can understand why books don't get their own section my music does ect, but they still deserve a mention.

So, discuss something booky. Say what you're reading, what you want to read, your favorite novel/author, anything like that biggrin.gif.

Personally I'm reading Redemption of Athalus by David Eddings atm, and my favorite books are the Belgaraid and Malloreon (excuse poor spelling) by Eddings and also novels by Melissa Nathan. (who really very sadly has died of breast cancer just recently, her prolouge in the last book she wrote made me cry so much sad.gif)

STEPHEN KING

Oh. My. God. The man is a Genius.

Read Lisey's Story, it is literary crack! Beautiful stuff indeed.

Yes, yes he is. Only thing I dislike about his is that sometimes he uses WAY to much details tongue.gif

The beauty is in the details tongue.gif

I love the way he can really get into a character's head, you know?

QFFE

Although, I probably should be more tolerant; I used to really enjoy the SoUE books... before I read anything else.

I liked Animal Farm more, but NewSpeak will always have a place in my heart tongue.gif

Whew, where to start.

Good Omens by Neil Gaimen and Terry Pratchett
Freakonomics by Steven Levitt and Stephen Dubner
The Audacity of Hope by Barak Obama

To name a few. I'll be back with more when I get over this block I've got. I can't remember anything I've read lately blink.gif

My favourite book...I don't reckon I can choose just one...

But, my favourites would be the Uglies trilogy, the Midnighters trilogy, Peeps, and So Yesturday. In short, anything written be Scott Westerfeld.

Memoirs of a Geisha...

...and the Diary fo Murasaki Shikibu, as well as the Tales of Genji.

absolutely amazing books.

I also love the series of books by Carlos Castaneda, they're all true, about Don Juan and shamanism.

LoTR and the His Dark Materials trilogy.

I also frown upon whoever said SoUE books are great. Don't get me started, I've already expressed my fervent hatred of the series somewhere in Priv.

Ladylion - Freakonomics was something I was considering buying the other day. Sounds great.
Cell by Steven king is another book on my To Read list.

His Dark Materials was great. That was possibly the best Good v. Evil series I've ever read. Freakonomics is excellent. Anyone that can explain the drop in US crime rate in theearly 90s in a way other than 'Juliani bitch slapped them hos!' deserves an A+, and Levitt is amazingly good at it.

Didn't know that Trainspotting was a book, but I probably should have guessed. Most major motion pictures are based on books these days. And A Clockwork Orange scared the shit out of me. Great read and all, but literally made me weep for the future.

Angels & Demons - Dan Brown is a great book, although his other three are just okay. (Yes, A&D is a lot better than The Da Vinci Code)

Ahhhh I own this book! Amazing. One of my favorite movies, as well. Come to think of it, it's in my DVD player right now.
