Over the last week or so, I got a few complaints about the number of topics in the General Chat area that just have a Youtube link in it and nothing else. In order to promote better topic quality at Neocodex, the staff would like it if you would simply include a brief explanation of what the movie actually is (right in the post under the URL), that way it gives the topic a bit more meaning and people will be a bit more interested in seeing what it is all about. This also goes for anything else, like Google Videos, or even just image links (it would be nice to know what a link points to before people visit it, even a sentence is just fine).

Now, if you neglect to put any explanation in your Video/Pic topics: Staff have a lot to do already, so I wouldn't want to put the pressure on them entirely to ensure there's an explanation in the topic, so therefore some of the responsibility will be shifted onto the topic poster. If no commentary is included with your movie or picture URL, then a moderator will give you a quick PM reminding you to include the descriptions along with your link, and depending if they have free time they can add the description in for you. However, don't make the staff remind you too often -- carelessness after being notified repeatedly will not be tolerated and warns will be issued for neglect to follow rules after being informed of what not to do, but for this rule we'll always send a PM beforehand and ensure that you got notified of your first incident.

And it only takes a few more seconds to make a sentence or two about what you're posting. I'm sure it's not too much to ask. If you have any questions about this policy, either ask them in here or send me a PM!
