I just failed my road test. Damn course tricked me dry.gif I wanted my drivers license today.

So, here is what happened. I was going up to a left hand turn in the right lane. Since there isn't really a road that is part of the course on the right, I assumed it was safe for me to make a left turn from that spot. All that was there was a dirt road. Apparently I was wrong- So I auto-failed. Had that not happened, I would have my drivers license right now sad.gif

Attached File  drvrstest.JPG   15.96KB   33 downloads <- Pic of what happened

Also the person got all cranky at me and marked me down because of the situation below that I tried to diagram. I'm the red line. The other car is the blue line. I was approaching for a left hand turn and that was coming straight, they turn on their turn signal and slow down basically to a stop. I'm barely rolling because they have the right away (I didn't realize the one way was 4 lane o.o). So finally I go and get in the right lane and the person grading me was like-
"You should have waited. Even though they had their turn signal on does not mean they will turn." I nodded my head and said okay while I really thought "What the bark are you thinking? They barking stopped even though they had the right away. I know he wasn't going straight". angry.gif

Attached File  drvrstest2.JPG   14.02KB   20 downloads <--- Diagram of that o.o

On the bright side- I nailed parallel parking and my backing in at 90 degrees, everything else was good with the exception of my observation skills. Next time I take the test I'm going to have my head on a swivel. I paid enough attention dry.gif I just didn't swing my head around wildly to show that I was.

Hope the attachments work out. I would use imageshack but it doesn't want to work for me right now.

No wonder you failed, you're driving on the wrong side of the road. wink.gif

Yes I passed but i had a total of 12 points taken off, 6 for stupid little things, and the other 6 because there was a car parked on a corner i was suposed to turn at and i didn't look in the car to see if someone was in the car? dry.gif

two very simple rules -
when you're sitting your test you need to follow the rules
never ever put yourself at risk

in the first one you were in the wrong, you cut across lanes and that's pretty dangerous - you should always try to anticipate the road ahead, if he says 200 yards make a left turning, you should be looking to get into position well in advance, checking for traffic, and reacting to the junction (if it's a dirt track as you say, that makes it all the more important that you don't position yourself in a way that could be dangerous)

and when you're on your test, you just NEVER accept a nod and a wink as a go-ahead to break the rules of the road (once you've got your license it's a different matter LOL - just remember to look out for us bikers)

you'll pass next time, just remember you are sitting an exam, just treat everything you're doing as a question on a test.

I failed the first time, passed the second. Some intersection where I had a stop sign and the cross traffic didn't dry.gif

Its a shame it was a closed course. The take a turn in 200 yards would be more like "Take a left turn in 50 feet, by the way, you need to get over four lanes" dry.gif I didn't think that area was part of the course, so I thought that it didn't matter.

I didn't accept a wink. It was completely safe for both of us to turn onto the same road at the same time. It was wide enough, four lanes wide o.o The other driver didn't even make a motion, they had the right away and just stopped. Literally, they stopped. I was sitting there waiting for that person to make the turn, and when they didn't I was like "Whatever, I'll go".

I don't care, I'll get my license next Monday.

I'm next, I plan on taking it next week. I just hope I get a nice person, but it shouldn't be too hard. Like standardized tests in California, the driving test has been dumbed down for all the illegal Mexicans which means no parallel parking, 3 point turns, etc. Should be fairly simple wink.gif

Parallel parking is easy.

Here you take a similar theory test at age 14 where you can be a learner (drive with someone else in the vehicle). When you're 16 or have had your learners for at least one year and are 16 and over, you can go for your drivers license and there's no restrictions other than you can't have any alcohol (normally its 0.08% but its zero tolerance for this stage of license), and less demerits to use (8). When you're 18 you can go for your fully fledged 0.08 alcohol, 15 demerit license and you can only upgrade to higher class licenses if you have your full "normal" license. tongue.gif

That explains why I never had to paralell park in my test. (I live in an area with a shitload of mexicans)

lol, I passed my first time, but my sister didn't... they caught her on an unmarked intersection. lol

the only thing I got deducted a little for was stopping at a stop sign, I was doing the test in the middle of a blizzard in winter, and when I went to stop, the road was on a decline, and the car slid about a foot or so on the snow/ice, and apparently I'm supposed to take my foot off the brake (even though it's locked up) lol.

I passed the second time. I over did my 3-point turn on a muddy dirt road, how I did it is still very unclear to me.

Meh, in England we take ours later. I've passed my theory and have my test in a month's time. But I've passed my motorbike test, so that's cool biggrin.gif
