Do you think it's possible that Neopets tracks some of the cheating threads and/or sites you go to using Google Analytics (urchin.js)?

Recently while doing testing for a number of different projects I have had to come in direct contact with my cookies time after time when I noticed that information about some sites were being tracked in my cookies. Does anyone know the extent of this tracking method and whether it's being used as a tracking method at all?

Let me put it this way. For about a week I've been browsing a bunch of cheat sites, and I've been using certain...programs, heh. If TNT is tracking it, they would have iced me by now.

Plus, TNT would be in big trouble if they were watching where people went...invasion of privacy and whatnot.

If NeoCodex can find how the Neopets Toolbar tracks what people do, and than TNT is about to sue NC, we can have something over them tongue.gif.

I'm not saying that they actively view that you have gone to sites that are generally frowned upon when it comes to legitimate gaming, I'm just saying is it possible that they could use this as evidence against you as a sort of deciding factor when it comes to freeze your account or not if it's being reviewed. And neopets toolbar? Is that some sort of add on?

Well, I have the toolbar, and still don't have any problems.

The thing is that they would not waste their time on each individual neopian. They are a business now, after all. What would they do, hire people to filter the links we go to? They would have to visit each site that we go to just to check it for cheating. After all, someone could be visiting a cheat site to say 'stop cheating u cheaters', in which case TNT would get in trouble for freezing that persons account. So really, it would take too much effort to check that stuff.

They may not track what sites you go to Akira, but what programs you open and etc. So that's why they can have ecidence to ban people.

what programs you open?

so you're saying they are basicially putting trojans on our PCs?

first of all, that could easily be proven by just looking at all the outgoing data, second of all, they aren't THAT stupid.

I see....well, I will again say that I've been running programs for a week without any problems. At any rate, the probably wouldn't use it as proof unless you did something that made you really suspicious, like running an auto trainer and getting first place or something. At that point, you would be hard pressed to get the account back as it is.

I'm not too worried, haha. TNT really isn't that clever...

You should never just click links from cheat sites to neopets.com because they do add the referrer to your cookies. Always copy the link and paste it into a new window so they can't get the referrer. I have no idea if they actually do anything with the information they have, but they certainly have the capabilities to do so.

They don't have to hide it. If you agree to download the toolbar all legal issues are absolved, and they can track you.

Haha...looking back at what I said, I gotta agree with you Kitsune ^-^ Of all people, I should know that TNT really doesn't care who they freeze or why. I just think that somebody could raise a stink about it if they were doing nothing wrong offsite and TNT froze them. Then again, it's not like it would matter o.O

So really, everyone should just always watch out for TNT...scariest governing body in existence in the digital realm o.O A mafia run by a bunch of cuddly pets...
