I think it would be an advantage to some of us if we understood what punishments we get for what cheats we are found using. it may make people think twice about using programs excesievley {spelt wrong] and if nothing else it will be interesting.

i have heard people getting IP banned, suspended, IP suspended, Frozen and warned.

could you please list what you have been caught doing and what your punishment was? thanks

IP banned, frozen, chain iced... Thats the worst I've had.

Some have been unlucky enough to get legal letters.

Are Drew and Nikalren the only ones to get legal letters? I've only heard about them.

I've never been frozen so far and my main account is almost 7 years old. But I can feel the ice coming blink.gif.

I'm curious if any of you ever got an account back. Especially Kitsune - did you not explain the donation thing? Or was that still a cheat to them?

Frozen and Chain Iced. Never IP Banned. I just hate when they decide to ban a legitimate account months after they've banned your others for cheating.

They probably do...bunch of cheap skates o.O They proudly display the millions of users that they have, but in reality, everyone usually has at least one side account...so there's probably only about a million users, give or take. I dunno.

I haven't been iced for cheating yet...then again, I only rarely use an ABer, use the Cliff hanger auto player, and use the 'make me rich' program. I sometimes try money tree grabbers...but most other cheat programs I try maybe once or twice. I'm rather cautious with it, haha. However, my accounts have been iced for defending my sexuality from some jerk on the boards. So...I'll just say that TNT is probably getting a little high from the thought of having the power to ban people for trivial things; like cheating or defending oneself from utter stupidity o.O They won't hesitate to ban you if you abuse a cheat program...

I use the cliff hanger auto player three to four times a day, the 'make me rich' program once a day, and the ABer maybe once a week...oh, and the NQII trainer two or three times a week, if I play NQII two or three times in the week, haha. Haven't seen any problems yet...so, I guess it's all about moderation. Use it once or twice daily, and you should be fine.

EDIT: Oop, got a warning. Huh...has anyone else ever received just a warning before?

Neopets sends legal letters but they rarely take legal action (it isn't worth the money most of the time).

"You have received an official warning from the Neopets Team for violating the Neopets Terms and Conditions. It is against the rules to use, link to, or post cheats. To see a full list of rules, you can visit our NeoRules page: http://www.neopets.com/chatrules.phtml If you continue to break the rules, your account will be permanently frozen. Please do not reply to this NeoMessage."

I usually delete warnings from TNT right off the bat, although I thought this one was amusing...I technically hadn't done anything besides cliff hanger and 'make me rich' today. I went to all of the free stuff, but otherwise, I didn't do anything else. Didn't play any games, and I didn't go to the boards. Hell, I only neomailed one person today, and they don't know I cheat, haha. Maybe it was a fluke? o.O It seems as though they would just ice me if they caught me using a program...oh well.

I wasn't advertising anything...didn't get on the boards at all o.O Plus, the most board activity that I've had since Saturday was at the BC, trying to grab a bunch of votes for my pteri. So, I think they were on the 'using' part; much less the 'linking' or 'advertising' part. Besides, I don't want to give TNT an excuse to take me down-or neocodex, for that matter.

Legal letters to my knowledge aren't sent to individual program users but program makers or site owners who continually do copyright infringements like selling pets/np/items for usd, or don't put disclaimers on their programs. I haven't heard of individual program users who have recieved legal threats unless they did something like cookie grab or violate internet laws in the process of cheating.

I'm pretty sure Cript got a legal letter 1we8.gif He doesn't fit in that category.

Really? That's kinda strange since Cript is probably the one with the most legal knowledge on this kind of thing (more than me since I haven't done internet law). I wouldn't have thought, with that knowledge that he would have been threatened.

Drew got his letter a long time before slop was big. He got it because of his programing, not the fact that the site made money.

I just re-read what you said Ange, and I'm not sure that I completely understand. So if this post is completely missing the point, disregard. tongue.gif

The ones that I know received legal letters owned websites, and if you look at the WHOIS information on a website it tells you the person's billing address. TNT probably used that method to contact them.

SL, had Neocodex ever had any contact like that with TNT? Letters, phone calls, host calls, etc?

No, they still work there...they just have absolutely no say in what happens anymore. It's all Viacom and Doug o.O Crazy scientologist, haha.

TNT's been getting more and more touchy about reporting and freezing. Moderation has become heavier on the board (but only for people that complain about TNT; spammers still get an hour or two of fame). After so much effort to insert ways to make money, they really don't want to be scammed out of a single dollar. If they could find a way, they would probably sue everyone that used programs...but it takes too much effort, and money, so they don't wanna, haha. Freezing and chain icing work for them, even if we can bounce back.
