I would really like to find a way to alert people without the toolbar massively and fastly. Is there anyway to detect a give away without the toolbar?

Actually you can get the items without having the toolbar. The toolbar just alerts you that there is a giveaway and contains the link to it, so if a non-toolbar person gets the link then they can get items too.
Presumably the toolbar just checks a page on neopets to see if there's been a giveaway, so if you install it and just watch for the pages which it visits you should be able to simulate it.

Yeah its just a url. But the url changes every give away right? What I want to do in this topic:
- think of innovative ways for non tool users to detect this? hey laser what i want to do if possible set up tool on php server and when it detects it it'll give a global message to everyone and i can hook up an sms too. but is it possible to install on server i dont even know if server is thing id want to install it. cuz its a browser thing right

Yeah man im hoping that is an option. Disassembling it.
Another option is have server check the chat section for the links but its gotta be a smart script to read and pick it out. What boards do people post it in. What does the general link look like? What are common titles?

You should be able to make a simple php script to check for it, then just run the script every x minutes or whatever. But you'll need to figure out how to simulate it first.
What I meant was that the URL which the toolbar checks must be constant otherwise it wouldn't know where to check, so if you can find that URL you should be able to check yourself.

Exactly.
Then you just visit that URL and you've got a simulator.
http://vsiupdate.neo...ype=alert|email
That's the link, with a few other parameters but i'm not sure if they're necessary or not.

No idea, I've never seen it when there's an alert.
You'll just have to check again when there's actually an alert and see what it says.
That's the URL that the toolbar checked though, try installing it and packet sniffing for a while.
