Only the beginning of december and I get a snow day! biggrin.gif sucks, though.. since I already got ready and bla bla, and it's only after that I find out it's closed. Atleast I didn't go to my bus stop.

Discuss the greatness of snow days!

Thanks for reminding me to bring an extra coat down the hill dry.gif

I fucking hate my district school board. I've been going to school in YRDSB for seven years now (just above Toronto) and there's been times of ridiculous snowfall - but never ever do they allow a snowday. Pretty lame shit. Whatever, I don't really care, I'm a part-time student now anyway and going for my scoliosis x-ray in an hour.

I know when I lived in Ontario, they absolutely refused to cancel school. If a lot of the schools students take the bus in, cancellation is more frequent as well tongue.gif

I don't think my univeristy has officially closed on a snow day in years. A couple of my teachers do like to cancel classes though!

You guys should come here after Christmas biggrin.gif
Doesn't snow in December really. But January <3

Last year we had to walk for 2 hours in snow after the busses all stopped. We passed 8 of the bus that we wanted to catch stuck in snow, helped a couple free their car, built a snowwomen and more.
Then there's the snowball fights and sledging.

Not to rub it in or anything rolleyes.gif

Well tomorrow or wednesday (particularly wednesday) I'm expecting a snow day. Over in Oregon where my parents are (gosh I should really call them now) there's been a wind and snow storm which my mom says they call the pineapple express. It's where winds from Hawaii bring huge amounts of humidity and moisture to Washington and Oregon and then it passes through the rest of the united states and southern Canada. Be prepared east coast... you're due for one of your three year blizzards.

we needed at least 7 feet in the north for a 'snow day' ...

I am glad I love in the south now, less snow ... Heck no snow to shovel

One of the greatest things about living in the south is that if we have any sort of flurry at all, school is cancelled.

Even when there is no chance that snow will stick, school is cancelled.

>.> We don't know how to salt roads. XD

when I was in high school, my school district wouldn't close for anything. in all my school days I've had maybe 2-3 days of school cancelled b/c of snow.

on a different note, I went out and started my truck this morning in a -20 C blizzard.... I miss Japan sad.gif

I wanted a snow day today. The roads around me were bad as fuck. But the main roads were okay.

I love snow days with a passion. I always get at least one every year. They're always in January-April(yep, April. Michigan is weird like that tongue.gif) though so I've no hope for any this month. sad.gif

The school board I was in wouldn't close school down until it was below -40C (-40F), if blizzard conditions were obstructing the vision of school buses, or if there was too much snow falling on the ground that they couldn't clear it in time.

That would leave about three or four days of school missed, but surprisingly only because of temperatures below -40C and maybe the odd blizzard.
