I know when I lived in Ontario, they absolutely refused to cancel school. If a lot of the schools students take the bus in, cancellation is more frequent as well
I don't think my univeristy has officially closed on a snow day in years. A couple of my teachers do like to cancel classes though!

Doesn't snow in December really. But January <3
Last year we had to walk for 2 hours in snow after the busses all stopped. We passed 8 of the bus that we wanted to catch stuck in snow, helped a couple free their car, built a snowwomen and more.
Then there's the snowball fights and sledging.
Not to rub it in or anything

Even when there is no chance that snow will stick, school is cancelled.

"I had some snow days too when I was in high school" would've worked just as well.

That would leave about three or four days of school missed, but surprisingly only because of temperatures below -40C and maybe the odd blizzard.
