Anyone else love this movie?

I thought it was great. For the past couple of days I've been looking around the net to try to solve clues.

So far: None have been solved sad.gif

So yeah, discuss this great movie.

Ha. My brother saw it and said it was absolute shit. Said he almost got motion sickness because of the 'homemade' effect they used in the film. Personally, I don't know anything about it.

Yeah the camera is really bad but after a while my friends and I got used to it. At some points the camera was like terrible. Because they're like "OMG ARE YOU GETTING THIS?!" and hes not and it makes you wanna stab someone. -.- tongue.gif

What is this movie actually about? It looks like the Blair Witch Project meets Eight Legged Freaks(except it looks like a giant worm and not spiders) from the previews. Is it actually worth seeing, or worth paying to see I should ask?

Very brief summary:
Five young New Yorkers throw their friend a going-away party the night that a monster the size of a skyscraper descends upon the city. Told from the point of view of their video camera, the film is a document of their attempt to survive the most surreal, horrifying event of their lives.

I have been waiting for this film for months now. The internet marketing was brilliantly done. Got my attention at least tongue.gif

The film didn't have a name until a couple of months ago. Before that it was just a date that it would be released. With J J Abrams being the guy behind LOST i'm expecting big things.

I've gotta say, I hated this movie. I really hoped it would be good, but was disappointed. I'd go into why, but spoilers and whatnot.

I'm thinking it'll gain cult status, but never really be popular in the mainstream.
I've only seen the trailer though.

Just got back from seeing it. It wasn't amazing, but it wasn't that bad either. I was expecting to get frustrated at the camera work, but it wasn't too bad actually. The special effects are pretty decent, especially for the monster. Some key questions weren't answered unfortunately, but it's forgivable. You get a huge closeup of the monster near the end of the movie and some body shots in the middle, so I was happy. tongue.gif I won't reveal what the monster was exactly. All I'll say is that it's not a worm and it's not Godzilla(thank god). tongue.gif The acting was alright, but I wasn't expecting amazing actors or anything. They're good enough to still give some realism to the movie though. Overall, I give it a 7 out of 10. A bit disappointing, but it could have been A LOT worse.

Thing is most of you gotta realize that this is a monster disaster film meaning it won't be that good by default. Secondly this is possibly the best film of its genre. Thirdly it was just fucking awesome anyways <3 Oh yeah and not all answers have to be answered but pretty much if you think about it most questions were. You'll have some left over but it's not that big of a deal. Most movies have questions left over like 28 weeks later.

There was one part that had bad acting but the rest wasn't bad at all. One thing that pisses me off the most about this movie is the reviewers. A grand amount have said they don't like it because they think it alludes to 9/11 which I say get OVER IT. Not every cloud of smoke because a building falls down in NYC means that it's like 9/11. When all buildings fall down it causes a lot of smoke especially when it's not planned. And DUH a building is going to fall down because there's a monster attack. People have also attacked it as it's in NYC well it's just like our two most famous cities are New York and LA. Of course we're going to put in in New York. It's like not having a monster attack in Tokyo. Gah. I hate reviewers sometimes.

QFT.

I loved the movie, I really did. It was what I wanted the Blair Witch Project to be... Meaning I wanted something to Happen.

For a monster movie, it was fabulous. XD It's sort of... a found tape scenario. And I feel like I can't really explain a lot but... Just because not everything is spoonfed answered for you doesn't mean it's a bad movie.
>.>;;

I don't really have time to expound now, but maybe I'll come in later.

A bunch of us went to go see it, but it made half of them motion sick. I was just sitting there eating my popcorn as if nothing was wrong. tongue.gif

It was pretty good though... kind of left you wondering, "wtf?"

I'm not sure it was intended to be scary. It was a monster movie though... similar to Godzilla in the lack of scary. happy.gif

So this movie.
From all the previews and the hype, I thought it was going to be garbage.

However, some old mates talked me into going to see it late one night.
And I'm glad.

Although there were a few plot holes, are parts that just made you say, "WTF?," the visual and sound effects were simply... amazing. I can't imagine the amount of time and creativity that was put into thought for many of the scenes (although some were unrealistic, of course), and the acting was quite convincing.

I had to get used to the camera, for the first 15 minutes I had a major headache, but soon I got used to everything and I felt like I was really there.

Plus I was kind of partial to the underlying stories, and began to care less about people combusting and being mauled by monsters.

Cloverfield was probably the best monster movie I've ever seen. I also got motion sickness like a whole lot of people did, especially during the last part of the movie, but I still liked it, because the concept was original (somewhat. It did what Blair Witch couldn't do). It also has some pretty awesome parts. The monster was especially awesome, and I think that and the shaky camera gimmick was what made the whole movie worth seeing, so it is not suprising that people are so divided in their opinions of it. Plus, the movie would have been extremely stupid with just a "regular" camera approach. The viral hype also drew you into the Cloverfield reality more, which was a smart move on JJ Abram's part.

It is a very good monster movie, I liked the camera effects too. Overall, very enjoyable film.
However...
I'M SO SICK OF THESE MOFING MOVIES WITH NO MOFING CLOSURE

The hype actually drew me away from the movie. Only reason I saw it was because I had no keys to my house and my mom had left and I didnt want to sit by the door nor take a long bus ride to my friends house. Movie didn't make me motion sick at all, I was pretty scared on a couple parts. The characters were alright, some bad acting here and there but its ok, not expecting oscary worthy performances in a Godzilla like movie. I liked the way the characters were killed off, pretty unconventional.

9/11 popped into my heads a few times, but I didn't want to think about any deeper meaning, I just wanted to enjoy the screaming and running and big monsters tongue.gif

I had to look up Norbit.

I've never seen the film... but I don't think you're talking about the same kind of thing we are.

XD

In Cloverfield, everything happens from a first person perspective. Like, say, you were walking or running down the street with your digital camera. It's that kind of quality. You don't see things like Mics on the screen, etc...

It's just really, really shakey with them walking or running all over the place. wink.gif

I gotta say I thought it was an okay movie. The shakey cam didn't really bother me and it actually helped bring me into the movie. However, I would've liked more of a plot and more less of a cliffhanger. I'm suspecting there will be a second movie, I mean, I really hope so. For the most part I felt like it was the first half of a Godzilla movie.
