I only got one error so far this morning which lasted for a bout 2 minutes.
How's the site traffic now? Has it slowed much since the initial boom?

Well, the traffic has only slowed down a bit but the server seems to be getting used to the traffic now. We've having MUCH lower server loads than before.
The error you got this morning was probably the board backups running. They tend to give cold and sinister looking IPS DRIVER errors even when the board is switched offline.

Yeah it said "IPS driver error" but I think it was a while before the site went down for back ups.
In the 13 hours I was offline we got over 500 new members ....it's amazing when you think if all of them made just 10 posts it would be a total of 5000+.....yet only a small number only make a single post or maybe a couple.

I hate those IPS errors I never quite know the reason for them, and I don't like that
Yeah we hate them too. They are extremely hard to debug as well as they don't give you anything as to what caused the problem .Yeah it said "IPS driver error" but I think it was a while before the site went down for back ups.

If everyone posted that much, I think people would shy away from how active codex was. We have a good balance right now. We can work towards higher things but it has to be gradual . This new influx of members has been hard on the community and we need to reach out to those who feel intimidated by these new members pouring in.In the 13 hours I was offline we got over 500 new members ....it's amazing when you think if all of them made just 10 posts it would be a total of 5000+.....yet only a small number only make a single post or maybe a couple.
They are starting to branch out now though A few of them have been seen outside of the downloads section so far It's good.
yeah some are turning out to be some really promising members .

I don't think You're going to get in trouble for Spamming. XD Take a look at what went on all day today. XD
(And is ongoing...)

aah good, as long as the site has finally learnt that random conversation is a very good way of actually making friends and isn't spam, I'm happy! . (To be fair the vast majority of the site did know, just the ones that didn't made me very uncomfortable ).
Anyway! Erm...I'm not sure where we should toddle too *twitch*. I shall think of something, never fear!

If anyone is curious as to why the forums are a sea of red names right now:
This goes to show that we can very much attract a new member base, but hopefully some of these people will decide to stick around and enjoy the rest of what we have to offer.
NOTE: When it says February 7th on the statistics meter above, it means in the last 12 hours, since it is noon here. As of a few hours ago, registration rates have suddenly accelerated so we expect to see a lot more than this today.

Update: About 30 seconds after I posted this message, 3 more people signed up. This is what I mean.

I just checked out the statistics. It doesn't seem like the registration levels are slowing down in any way .

Yeah...but it seems the number of users joining and visiting our boards is lessening with the hype of the program gone. Hopefully though the people will still stick around and enjoy what we have to offer .Registration was closed for a while? Why?
We wanted to close registrations because it would help bring the community closer together and make our programs a bit more exclusive. We closed registrations I think about 2 times in the past and after learning from those experiences, we feel that keeping them open is the better course of action .1 user(s) are reading this topic
