being cut off from internets for the past day or two has compelled me to make up for my absence by making a cool thread! smile1.gif

last night Three Days Grace was in town... I'm not exactly a fan... actually - before last night I didn't know who they were.... lol (I don't listen to mainstream music...) but a friend of mine had her cousin back out on her at the last minute and asked me to go with her. It was quite the experience! It was the second concert I have ever been to... the first being Elton John in the Calgary Saddledome with my mom. Well Seether was there, who I actually DO know, I like a lot of their songs, so I bought one of their little t-shirts. I also discovered I know one of three days grace's songs, and it's actually on my mp3 player as well. (who knew?? lol)

Aaaaanyways, me being the big nerd that I am, I had to take in the sight and study it... This type of concert is a lot different from Elton John, and I'm not just talking about the whole being patted down at the doors by security... The energy these guys put out on stage, they way they move.... it seems somehow.... erotic. >__> Watching the first band's singer, he did this little hip thrusting thing one moment, and that was.. well, it was interesting. I had never really felt that feeling before of "OMG! there are famous people creating music in this very room just for us! OMG! HE JUST SAID LETHBRIDGE!"

Another funny little thing I noticed and couldn't help laugh at... at the end of the song, almost instantaneously, the people on the floor would stick their hands up in the air with that little hand gesture thing, which I only know as what Hawaians use as 'hang loose', which to me appeared to be like a bunch of little meerkats standing up in a field.

So I was wondering... assuming you all are normal (unlike me) and have been to your fair share of concerts, what was your first concert like, what was your impression, and why do you like to go to these things?

I've never been to a concert before ... well.. I have but I didn't know that I was going to a concert. Don't ask how that happened...

Anyway, you seem to have gotten a lot of good data on this concert. Write a paper Foogie.

exactly! I never really realized how traveling to a communal area to listen to music could feasably be seen as an entertaining experience... but it was quite fulfilling!

I got my face rocked off pretty hard when I went and saw the Rolling Stones. Oddly enough, the highlight wasn't seeing them, rather it was knowing how happy my dad was to finally see them in concert (he's been a huge fan of them since their early days). Kind of made my sad afterwards, realizing that my dad doesn't really get to do a lot of the things he'd like to 1we8.gif

BACK TO WHAT I WAS SAYING, the show was pretty badass. I wasn't watching for erotic movements from them though tongue.gif

Even as an old man, Mick Jagger has amazing charisma and stage presence. He's one of those very rare people that can do anything on stage and not look like an idiot.

I've only been to a Scorpions concert when I was like eleven and thats all. Scorpions are pretty awesome. My favorite song is Wind of Change.
Three Day's Grace have some really good songs too.

I've never heard of scorpions... (though I havent heard or 90% of all bands out there people talk about...)

though yes, I did rather enjoy a lot of the songs that three days grace performed.

I've been to so many concerts... XD

Oh lawd, I love them.

Mostly rock/metal shows... and they're all crazy.

I have to say, there are lots of pelvic gyrations on stage at rock shows, but that adds to the Atmosphere.

Sex, Drugs, Rock'n'Roll, amirite?

And that... Hawaiian "Hang loose"... Is really.... THE METAL HAND! Like, something is so incredibly hardcore rock that you just can't express it's awesomeness in words... so you make the metal hand.

Which is loosely related to the Devil's Horns, probably. \m/

Saw Zappa Plays Zappa. Haven't been able to get tickets beyond that. If I can go to SXSW, I will this year, but aside from that I'm too broke for that stuff right now. I wanna see Rush in March, and I know theyre playing in Dallas but I dont want to drive that long.

My first concert was American Idol with my family when I was ten or eleven. That was quite the experience. tongue.gif I haven't been to any other large shows with widely-known bands, but I try to see local bands as often as I can. I'm also planning on Taste of Chaos and Warped Tour this summer.

My first concert was great.. I went to see Hot Hot Heat and the Futureheads with my friends. Surprisingly, there was moshing at that concert and I moshed like hell the whole show, and at one point one of my bigger friends lifts me up and there I was, body surfing my way around the place. Man, that was a good experience.

There's really nothing like live music.
