What the heck is an iHOP anyways? Never heard of it, unless its an acronym for something that is really common knowledge. I doubt anyone around here is going to give out free pancakes anyways.
Rawr. The people are hungry, and we demand pancakes for breakfast!!

An IHOP is the INTERNATIONAL HOUSE OF PANCAKES!
It's basically a glorified Denny's, but way better.

QUOTE
Known also as Fat Tuesday or Mardi Gras, National Pancake Day dates back several centuries to when the English prepped for fasting during Lent. Strict rules prohibited the eating of all dairy products during Lent, so pancakes were made to use up the supply of eggs, milk, butter and other dairy products…hence the name Pancake Tuesday, or Shrove Tuesday.
In 2008, Fat Tuesday falls on February 5, which also happens to be Super Tuesday, on which a record number of states will hold their Presidential primaries. In the interest of embracing the democratic process, IHOP has postponed its celebration of National Pancake Day by one week, and will give away free pancakes on February 12.
Since beginning its National Pancake Day celebration in 2006, IHOP has raised nearly one million dollars to support charities in the communities in which it operates. With your help, we hope to raise $750,000 for Children’s Miracle Network in 2008!

I guess
Don't really understand why they postponed it though... surely, pancakes + primaries = super happy fun time?

I have a theory!!!
It's because they didn't want to make it so obvious that they were directly commersialising and profitting from a religious day (especially when it's Christian and not everyone in the world is christian afterall, therefore they may narrow the market on themselves if customers wish to avoid it as it's not part of their religion) so put it a week late so all the christians are in a pancakey mood, everyone knows it's the season for them but it's not actually taking over Shrove Tuesday.
Do I get a cookie for my theory? In RS they taught us every opinion counts, so I should get a cookie no matter what.
..Though the lack of prior mention of cookies may prevent me somewhat.

Everyone's opinion is valid. But some are more valid than others.

I think you deserve a cookie or two. I mean, your theory sounds about right.
We're apparently extremely worried about being P.C.
Why else would some southerners use the word CANADIAN to refer to black folk? (I still don't believe that's true. :\)

Because you're my friend I'm going to assume you aren't being as cruel to me as you are to others. Thus by wrapping my self in my soft cloud of lies I continue to be a happy gal .

Awwwh yay. Is that because you'd be crueler to others, or because you weren't actually saying my opinion isn't as valid as others?
Neither... I was just making an Animal Farm reference for no good reason
Still, I suppose I probably would be crueler to others... xP

the ihop name is a bit misleading
