Oh, yeah, they sell those here but they are just "single slices" or "singles" or w/e. Doesn't say the kind of cheese on it other than 'cheddar'. 1we8.gif

Aw crap, now you made me hungry for cheese. Damnit, I seriously have a huge craving for cheese now.

I always crave cheese sad.gif. It's so awesome sad.gif. We have string cheese at home and I was going to eat some and I forgot ... I FORGOT crybaby.gif

Oh you're right.... >_< It's funny how it tastes better peeled, but when you eat it like a stick of cheese, it doesn't taste nearly as good.

Indeed. It obtains magical flavoring tongue.gif. I can't explain it either tongue.gif.

I think it's the air you get with it.

It's the same as curled-over crisps (chips for you people) tasting nicer than flat ones.

Must be the greater surface area of cheese exposed to air, or the greater surface area of the cheese that has contact with the tastebuds of the tongue as the cheese is consumed. blink.gif

Probably. I was originally going to mention something about air but I decided that it would be dumb. Better to go with your first instinct eh? tongue.gif

I was surprised Joe mentioned air too. Made me feel more secure with my assumption that air is the culprit. tongue.gif

That is what I was relying on. whistling.gif If we are wrong, we are all wrong together!!

But seriously, peeled cheese strings taste better and I would like to know why. I also wish cheese strings came pre-peeled in a big bag or something. tongue.gif

They sell ready-grated cheese in mainland Europe... I've never seen it here, but still, that's uberlazy xD

Yeah, they sell the grated stuff here too, but I'm talking long fine strips of cheese. tongue.gif

If you know how to do something and can afford to have someone else do it for you, then why not? tongue.gif

There'd still be lots of air in them then, though, so according to our theory, they'd still be thuper-yummy.

How can you guarentee this though? If they were tangled, the chances of them being mashed together are more likely, making the possibility of returning to a large chunk of cheese greater ohmy.gif.

It seems you can never escape the huge chunk ohmy.gif.

Grate them so finely that you can sieve it. tongue.gif That'll get plenty of air in your cheese. biggrin.gif

The air will always finds its way though, I think. Notice that the grated cheese doesn't necessarily turn into a huge ball (from what I have noticed anyways, it always pours nicely). With stringed cheese, it would tend to want to remain a string too. tongue.gif

They'd have to be kept well refrigerated, to prevent them splurging back together.

Yeah it's only going to stick together if you let your cheese sweat. tongue.gif You don't want sweaty cheese...
